Derby Historical Society newsletter features Derby's 350th, past anniversaries

From the desk of Executive Director Kellie Santiago:

"As we celebrate the 350th Anniversary of the City of Derby this month, we are reminded here at the Derby Historical Society about why the Society was created and why our presence in the community is so important.

"Since 1946, our mission has been to preserve, maintain and celebrate the rich and varied history of the Lower Naugatuck Valley. Our main focus, in the more than 40 years since we acquired the David Humphreys House and opened it up to the public, has been the education of our school-age children, teaching them about the contributions that our towns and their founders made to this country and bringing history alive for them through “A Day in 1762,” our living history field trip.

"As author Robert Heinlein said,  'A generation which ignores its history has no past and no future.' Here at the Derby Historical Society we will continue to chronicle the events and achievements of this All American Valley and keep history alive for our future generations.'"
