Forum in Ansonia works to bridge gap between community, police

Maude Hinson, wife of the Rev. John Hinson, pastor, First Baptist Church in Ansonia, speaks Monday night at a community forum in the church sanctuary.

Maude Hinson organized a Law Enforcement Appreciation Day earlier this year and raised $8,300 to purchase safety equipment for Ansonia Police Officers. The fund-raising continues with a goal of $51,000, she said.

Please stay tuned for more information about the meeting in the next issue of The Valley Voice newsletter.

Derby Public Library to launch winter book club

DERBY - The Derby Public Library invites you to beat the winter blues this year by curling up with some good books, winning prizes, and meeting new friends.

The 2017 Winter Reading Club for Adults, Cabin Fever, will begin Jan. 3 and run through March 3.

As participants ages 18 and over read books of their choice, they will be asked to anonymously complete a very brief written questionnaire to share with fellow readers.

Readers will have the option of doing this either online by using the LitKeeper software, or the traditional written way.
All reviews will be posted and shared.

Readers will receive a participation prize upon submitting their first review.
Weekly raffles will be held for readers sharing for each particular week.

A Spring’s a-Comin’ celebration for all club members will be held at 6:30 p.m. March 6.

All attendees will have a chance to win a grand prize raffle.
You can register in person at the adult circulation desk or by phone.
For more information, stop by the Library at 313 Elizabeth St., call 203-736-1482, or visit www.derbypubliclibrary.org.
