New Haven man charged in Ansonia armed robbery, suspect in multiple others

ANSONIA - Police arrested Christian Borrero, 18, of New Haven Oct. 6 for his involvement in an armed robbery of the Xtra Mart on Wakelee Avenue on July 7, 2022. 

The arrest was made after a joint investigation with the New Haven Police Department where Borrero was identified as a suspect in multiple armed robberies, Lt. Patrick Lynch said in a written release. 

A search warrant at Borrero’s residence recovered a hand gun matching the description of the gun used in the Ansonia robbery.

 

Borrero was charged with first degree robbery,  conspiracy to commit first degree robbery, first degree threatening, carrying a pistol without a permit, and sixth degree larceny.

He was arraigned at Derby Superior Court and held on a $1M bond. 

His next court date is Oct. 27.

First United Methodist Church in Ansonia to hold tag sale Saturday


ANSONIA - A "Neighborhood Tag Sale" will be held tomorrow, Saturday, at First United Methodist Church, 47 Franklin St. Hours are 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

It will feature books, household items, Halloween, harvest, and Christmas decorations, glassware, toys, and more.

Breakfast sandwiches, hot dogs, and beverages will be available for purchase. Free coffee!

Derby Public Library hosts Halloween fun for all ages

 

DERBY - Derby Public Library is holding a Halloween Raffle for all ages throughout the month of October. Enter as often as you wish.

There will be two winning tickets (1 adult and 1 child) that will be drawn on Saturday, Oct. 29.

A variety of autumn/Halloween items will be awarded.

The Library is at 313 Elizabeth St.
