Cassetti swears in sergeant for Ansonia Police Department

Congratulations to the newest sergeant for the Ansonia Police Department, Sgt. Joshua Rodriguez, who was sworn into his new position yesterday [Monday] by Mayor Cassetti.

Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep and doesn't know where to find them but Jack Tuesday is the guy who can figure out why someone would try to hide them! 

On a chase through the city to the homes of three piggies and other popular tales, Jack Tuesday will track down the thief who has stolen the sheep and make sure that the thief lands in jail.

'Turnback Tuesday' remembers Derby's 300th birthday celebration

Turnback Tuesday remembers Derby’s 300th celebration. It featured 10 days of activities in which the whole city was involved.

Starting May 13, 2025 we would like to share some of the highlights from 50 years ago. Much in the way of merchandise was created for the event.

One of these items was a bow tie. Worn by many men throughout the festivities, it was available in many colors. Derby Public Library has four of them as part of our collection.

These ties were donated by the Berman and Ahearn families.

Thanks goes to the Derby Public Library staff for sharing interesting local history each week.

Derby Neck Library to show 1932 thriller Monday

DERBY - Join us at Derby Neck Library for the exciting pre-code thriller American Madness (1932) at 3:30 p.m. Monday.

The film is an early collaboration between director Frank Capra and writer Robert Riskin that anticipates many of the themes of their later masterpiece, It's A Wonderful Life. 

Starring Walter Huston and an exceptional supporting cast. Hot, fresh popcorn will be served!

The Library is at 307 Hawthorne Ave.
