Save the date: Food Truck Festival on tap in Shelton



SHELTON - Food Trucks on the River - an autumn food truck festival featuring a beer garden - will be held at Veterans Memorial Park from 4-9 p.m. Oct. 19. 
The event will feature more than 25 food trucks, live music, children's activities, a beer garden, and more.
Rain date is Oct. 26.

Adam's House, a grief education center at 241 Coram Ave., has been named the recipient of some of the proceeds from this event.

Derby Public Library slates Teen Maker Space program

DERBY - Derby Public Library invites all young adults ages 12 to 17 to Teen Maker Space, Build a Better World from 3-4:30 p.m. Sept. 27.

Available resources include 3D design programs, 3D printer, 3D doodle pens, Legos, and more!

Light refreshments will be provided.
The Library is at 313 Elizabeth St.

Hoptoberfest on tap Saturday at Shelton Riverwalk


SHELTON - Derby-Shelton Rotary Club will host Hoptoberfest 2018 Saturday (Sunday is severe weather date) in the Rotary Pavilion at the Riverwalk. 
Hours are 1-5 p.m.
The festival will feature craft beers, chicken wings, and live music with all proceeds being invested into community programs based on the current needs of the Rotary Club's charitable partners. 

Since 2013, the event has raised close to $80,000, allowing the Club to help fund programs such as: Sponsor A Kid at the Boys and Girls Club in Shelton; the Valley United Way food bank; the Parent Child Research Center in Derby; literacy programs in Derby and Shelton Public Schools, and other worthwhile projects in the Valley.

SHELTON - Trap Fall School on the Shelton History Center grounds will be open from 1-4 p.m. Sunday for the public to take a peek.
The Shelton History Center is at 70 Ripton Road.

September is National Emergency Preparedness Month
DERBY - Are you prepared for an emergency? 
The Derby Public Library will host a presentation at 6:30 p.m Sept. 17 when Joe Burnett, Director of Safety, Security, and Emergency Preparedness, Griffin Hospital, and Brie Lenart, Deputy Director of #OEM, #CityofDerby, as they discuss the different kinds of disasters that can happen in our area and learn how you can prepare ahead of time to handle emergency situations.
