Vintage vehicle show to return on Father's Day to Shelton History Center

Classic cars grace the grounds of the Shelton History Center complex at a previous Vintage Vehicles show.

SHELTON - After a year of being unable to hold any events because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Shelton Historical Society will hold its Vintage Vehicles Antique & Classic Car Show June 20, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at its Shelton History Center complex, 70 Ripton Road.

Event organizers will be happy to see people again after a year of being unable to interact with the public due to the pandemic.
For some, this annual (except for 2020!) car show has become a tradition to enjoy with their dads and grandfathers on Father’s Day.
Visitors admire cars they remember from decades past, from the earliest Model T’s to 1970’s high performance muscle cars.
Owners of these automobiles generously share their expertise and stories with spectators as they stroll the shaded grounds with historic buildings as the backdrop.
Past shows have included everything from tractors to motorcycles to fire trucks.
Visitors may vote for their favorites and purchase refreshments. Admission is $1 for dads, $5/adult and $10 for a family of four.
Owners of antique and classic vehicles of all kinds may register to participate in this special event as they enter the property the day of the show.  Each entry is $10 and there is no year limit for the cars.
This family event will follow CDC and local health guidelines; masks are required to enter any building.
Proceeds will benefit the programs of the Shelton Historical Society, which normally offers many family and adult learning opportunities each year along with enrichment programs for students in several grades.
Unfortunately due to the pandemic, these activities have been curtailed but are being redesigned and will resume as soon as possible so that the Society may continue to fulfill its mission to “preserve elements of the community’s history in order to create connections between Shelton’s past, present, and future generations through education, maintaining a museum with its collections, and providing a voice in the community regarding matters of historical significance.”
Six historic structures, most rescued from destruction, comprise the Shelton History Center and serve as a museum of the community’s history.
For more information about the Vintage Vehicles show or the Shelton Historical Society, call 203-925-1803 or follow Shelton History Center on Facebook.
