SHELTON - Valley Shakespeare Festival has announced the second offering in its “Shakespeare in the Bar” series, Titus Andronicus.
There’s no better way to begin your Halloween weekend than to join your friends on “Mischief Night’ Oct. 30 at Porky’s CafĂ©, 50 Center St., for the Festival’s adaptation of one of the Bard’s least-performed and bloodiest plays!
Ticket price includes free pizza beginning at 5:30 p.m. with performance at 6:30 p.m. There will be a cash bar.
Audience participation is encouraged (and sometimes planned) during the performance and guests will be broken into teams to compete for a special Grand Prize based on the play’s action.
Valley Shakespeare Festival performed Macbeth at Porky’s last March to rave reviews and this production comes on the heels of its hugely successful three free performances of Much Ado About Nothing in July at the Riverwalk which drew crowds of more than 600 people.
The company will perform Titus script in hand, with minimal costuming in the intimate setting of the upper bar area of the Cafe.
Set in ancient Rome, Titus Andronicus is a wicked tale of betrayal, revenge, murder, and mayhem sure to pique your Halloween spirit.
Join Titus and the gang on his journey from heralded war hero to madness (Is he really mad or is there a method to it?) to final revenge. And along the way meet the most demented, demonic and depraved company of characters ever created.
Attendees will receive Halloween goody bags (while they last) and a valuable grand prize will be awarded to the most “attentive” audience member.
Admission is $10 per person in advance or $15 at the door.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.vsfestival.org or by calling 203-513-9446. Space is limited so please reserve yours early.
Happy Halloween from Valley Shakespeare Festival!
