'Turnback Tuesday' features downtown Derby drug store

Turnback Tuesday brings us back to the turn of the 20th century.

George H. Harding started out as a drug clerk in 1898 at 211 Main St., Derby. In 1901, he established his own business George H. Harding, Druggist (The Rexall Store) at the same location.

In 1915, he moved the business to 10 Elizabeth St. (see arrow.) George operated the business until his drug clerk, Henry G. Benowitz, took over in 1923. Henry continued until his retirement in 1975. Rexall was a chain of American drugstores.
