Griffin Health in Oxford to offer Wellness for Life program

OXFORD - Griffin Health is helping individuals get ready for an active and healthy summer – and beyond - with its Wellness for Life program this spring.

Wellness for Life is a 12-week lifestyle change program designed to empower individuals to take ownership of their health with Lifestyle Medicine knowledge and skills.

The program focuses on hands-on, personalized health education, featuring one-on-one consultations with a physician, an exercise physiologist, and a registered dietitian.

Participants will receive an activity monitor and attend weekly group educational and physical activity sessions to establish healthy lifestyle habits that lead to improved well-being and help prevent or effectively manage chronic conditions.

Located at the Griffin Center for Healthy Living at Quarry Walk, 300 Oxford Road, Wellness for Life will be held on Tuesdays from 4:30-6 p.m.

The start date of the program will be determined once the minimum number of participants is reached.

“At Wellness for Life, you’ll have the time and space to learn about your current habits and really look into how you can build healthy lifestyle habits into your routine and get your family, coworkers, and other loved ones in on your journey,” said Wellness for Life Program Co-Director Dr. Aisha Khan, a Lifestyle/Internal Medicine physician with a specialty in treating obesity. “It’s a joy for our compassionate caregivers to see participants take hold of the guidance, make it a practical part of their lives, and see the great changes in their overall well-being.”

Lifestyle Medicine is a unique medical specialty that focuses on using evidence-based approaches in healthy eating, managing stress, enhancing regular physical activity and restorative sleep, and fostering meaningful social connections and support systems.

All of these lifestyle factors help prevent and manage chronic conditions to dramatically improve one’s quality of life.

Since the program’s inception in 2012, Wellness for Life participants who have incorporated these healthy lifestyle habits into their routines have seen lasting improvement in their regular physical activity, healthy eating habits, improved sleep, resilience to stress, better control of chronic conditions like high blood pressure, and prevention of chronic diseases such as diabetes.
