Local historian to speak at Derby Public Library


DERBY - The Derby Public Library welcomes back Rob Novak, Jr., local historian, at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 12 to discuss Yesterday's Headlines.

Novak has specialized in presenting local history in fun, interactive formats for both general and specific audiences for more than 20 years.
He is past director of the Derby Historical Society and the City of Shelton's municipal historian.

Novak has authored four books through Arcadia Publications, and has been a popular historical columnist.  

Participants will be taken back to 1916, 1941, and 1966 to see what was happening locally 100, 75, and 50 years ago in the Valley.

St. Michael's Church in Beacon Falls to hold Four Seasons Country Fair

BEACON FALLS - St. Michael's Church, 25 Maple Ave., will
hold its Four Seasons Country Fair from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 21 in the church park.


The fair will feature delicious baked goods, seasonal booths with gift baskets, face painting, children's games and activities, a fun house, dunk tank, local crafters, and a variety of vendors.
This year we will have world class entertainment provided by the one and only Timmy Maia from noon-5 p.m with his all-star band!

Admission is free. This a great opportunity to catch one of New England’s hottest acts at no cost.
The Coastal Chordsmen barbershop choir will perform.

Rain date is Aug. 28.
