Recuperation journey: Eclipse clips

Numbers photographed indoors before the eclipse.

Shadow of numbers at 2:15 p.m. as it started to get overcast.

During the eclipse the dots look more like crescents.

An unplanned photo of me with camera during eclipse.

United Methodist Homes in Shelton, Farmington, Newington recognized

United Methodist Homes was a winner in the 26th annual National Mature Media Awards Program.
The program, presented by the Mature Market Resource Center, a national clearinghouse for the senior market, recognizes the nation’s best marketing, communications, educational materials, and programs designed and produced for older adults.

Awarded “Best in Show” in this year’s program, UMH earned a Gold Award and ranked in the top five percent of all entries.
The UMH resource “Your Guide to Senior Care Options” was reviewed by a distinguished panel of judges from across the United States, which represent years of expertise working in the mature market.
The winning resource was designed as a “road map” to help families navigate through senior living options ranging from hospice to home care. It provides readers an overview of senior living and care options and factors to keep in mind.

“We were delighted to take part in the Mature Media Awards Program this year, and were honored to be selected as a Best in Show winner,” says Chelsea Sayegh, Marketing Coordinator for UMH.

UMH provides assisted and independent living housing and healthcare options in three locations in Connecticut.
Among them are Wesley Village in Shelton, Middlewoods of Farmington, and Middlewoods of Newington.

Recuperation journey: Sunday s'mores

It's getting to be late August already (!) and we haven't made s'mores yet.
We were going to use the grill Sunday but ended up cooking inside.

Since we had the ingredients for those tasty treats we decided to microwave the marshmallows - I soon found that eight seconds on high was plenty; six seconds would probably suffice!

They were delicious and hit the spot.

And "gourmand" that I am I got an idea: Next time we should spread some peanut butter on the graham cracker first before adding a piece of chocolate and a marshmallow.

How does that sound?
