Church in Oxford to hold holiday fair

OXFORD - The Oxford United Church of Christ, Congregational will hold its annual Holiday Fair from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Church Hall, 3 Academy Road.

The fair will feature an expanded Peg’s Kitchen this year, so in addition to home baked pies, cookies, jams, and breads, there will be candies, chocolates, snack mix, and other sweet treats.

The fair is also known for its large Nearly New room with unbelievable bargains and for its hand-crafted Christmas ornaments.

There will be a book-sale room, and a popular Chinese Auction will feature gift certificates from area stores for a very reasonable price. Lunch will be served.

This year the raffle offers a 32-inch flat screen television and the second prize is a handmade quilt in red, white, and grey which shows winter birds and nature scenes.

Other raffle prizes are gift certificates for a restaurant and local stores.
All tickets are available at the fair.

Parishioners have been working for months, crafting items, making sweet treats and scented oils and preparing for the fair.

Come and enjoy good food and great shopping, and have lots of fun.

Shopping event in Seymour to benefit Treasured Time

Sharing 2015 Seymour Pink banner tribute

This beautiful video montage was created by Shelton resident Marc Weissman, host of the cable access TV show Looking Up: A View from the Valley.

The video shows the banners displayed in Seymour in honor of breast cancer survivors and in memory of those who have died from the disease. Please check it out!

On Sunday Weissman said in a Facebook post, "For the soundtrack, I chose an impassioned rendition of 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' sung by the late Eva Cassidy, who 19 years ago tomorrow sadly succumbed to melanoma at the tender age of 33."
