Family Fun Time on tap Monday at Derby Neck Library

This weekly program is fun for the whole family! We'll transform the Children's Room into a giant entertainment zone (as if it weren't enough fun already)!

Drop in any time between 3:30-5:30 p.m. Mondays to participate. The Library is at 307 Hawthorne Ave. We'll have music and karaoke, ToniePlay audio games, board and card games, life-sized games, snacks and refreshments, and more! No rotating schedule... all of these activities, every Monday, for all of summer.

Massaro Community Farm in Woodbridge to hold Firefly Festival July 25



WOODBRIDGE - Join us for a magical summer evening at Massaro Community Farm as we celebrate the wonder of fireflies!

On Saturday, July 25 beginning at 6:30 p.m. the farm will come alive with glowing fields, family-friendly activities, and a warm community atmosphere.

Bring the whole family and enjoy hands-on kids crafts, delicious eats from a local food truck, and the simple joy of exploring the farm at dusk as fireflies begin to twinkle across the fields. It’s the perfect way to slow down, connect with nature, and make lasting summer memories.

As the sun sets, take a stroll through the farm, relax with friends, and watch as the landscape transforms into a sparkling nighttime display.

Preschoolers to bloom, bounce, and boogie at Derby Public Library



Designed especially for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, this lively program is full of music, movement, and playful fun.

Little ones can clap, stomp, sway, and dance along to upbeat songs while building coordination, rhythm, and confidence. With a mix of silly motions, interactive tunes, and plenty of chances to move, it’s the perfect way to burn energy and celebrate the joy of music together.

Caregivers are encouraged to join in the fun, too!🌱🌸🎶 Come bloom, bounce, and boogie with us... it’s a toe-tapping good time! 🎶🌈✨
Recommended for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, but all are welcome!

Derby Neck Library to host bilingual story time


DERBY - Every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. [at Derby Neck Library] join Señor Bob in our Community Room for a bilingual storytime for speakers of all languages!
You’ll sing songs, listen to stories, and ¡se divertirán mucho!
This program to promote foreign language skills is targeted for ages 3-5, but all are welcome.
No registration required, but sign up for our Youth Services mailing list to stay in the loop on cancellations by clicking here.

Celebrate Earth Day April 18 at Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center


 

Earth Day FAQ


Q: Is there a fee to get in?
A: No, there’s no admission fee for our Earth Day Celebration!

Q: Where do I park?
A: There are two parking lots available: our main parking lot in front of the Nature Center, and an auxiliary lot in front of the Redwing Pond House, located at 21 Milan St. Follow the directions of the parking attendants.

Q: What time does the event start?
A: The event starts at 10:00 AM and continues until 3:00 PM.

Q: Where do I go to join an scheduled event?
A: Hikes and most other scheduled events will meet at the entrance to the Nature Center. Featured Creatures with James will meet inside the Nature Center. Space is limited for our live animal show, and spots fill up fast, so come early!

Q: Will there be bathrooms available?
A: Yes, there will be outdoor portable toilets on-site as well as indoor restrooms.

Q: Will the Nature Center building be open?
A: Yes, the Nature Center will be open for Earth Day. We will be closed the day after (Sunday), and will re-open on Monday.

Q: Is there a rain date for this event?
A: No, in the event of rain there will be no event.

Q: Will there be places to sit and rest?
A: Yes, there are benches at the pavilion and bleachers next to the fields

Q: Is there handicap parking available?
A: There are handicap parking spots in our main lot, and some spots will be made available next to the field; tell the parking attendant if you require accessible parking.

Q: Can I bring my dog?
A: Dogs are not allowed at this event, with the exception of service animals.

Q: Is this event stroller-friendly?
A: You are welcome to bring a stroller, but be advised that exhibitors and vendors will be set up on the athletic field, the condition of which can vary based on recent weather.

Q: Will there be an ATM available?
A: Yes, there will be an ATM at this event.

Q: Is outside food allowed?
A: Yes, if you would like to bring a bagged lunch or snacks with you, you are welcome to do so.

Q: Can I donate items to the raffle?
A: Yes! We welcome donations, and will be accepting raffle items up until Monday the 7th. When you drop items off at the Nature Center, be sure to fill out the Donation Log sheet.

Every day is Earth Day at the Nature Center! 
We invite you to honor Mother Earth, with our Friends of the Ansonia Nature Center (FANCI) co-hosting this annual event from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. April 18. 
Enjoy hikes, live animals, environmental exhibitors, a farmer’s market, music and more! Food and snacks available from local vendors. No park admission fee. 
All ages welcome; bring family and friends to celebrate spring!
FREE Admission! No registration necessary.
The Nature Center is at 10 Deerfield Lane.

TEAM slates Community Cook-Off April 25 at Warsaw Park in Ansonia


ANSONIA - TEAM’s beloved Men Who Cook event is back with a new name – Community Cookoff! Expect the same great food, drinks, raffles, music, and fun! 
TEAM’s 18th Annual Community Cookoff (formerly known as Men Who Cook) fundraiser will be held on April 25 at Warsaw Park, 119 Pulaski Highway. 
We hope you will be able to join us for an evening of culinary creations from dozens of volunteer chefs in our community, along with drinks, dancing and raffles.
This event is essential to keep TEAM programs such as Meals on Wheels and medical transportation, community diaper bank, support services including housing, food, and home heating help, income tax assistance and so much more… fully operative and accessible, and able to meet the needs of all who turn to us in the most difficult of circumstances. 
We hope you will stand alongside us as we aim to ensure all our neighbors have the support and resources they need. 
And by attending the Community Cookoff, you will be a part of making a meaningful difference in the lives of over 19,000 individuals and families who turn to TEAM each year. This is a record number of people served – the needs in our community continue to grow, and we must make sure TEAM is able to respond!
