Join The Salvation Army for a week of FREE books, stories, snacks, and summer reading support for children in Ansonia!
This year, we’re bringing the fun to a different ward of Ansonia each day, making it easier for families across the city to participate.

Garden Tales for children slated July 15 at Derby Public Library

 

🌷🧚Step into a world of stories, sunshine, and garden magic with Miss Kerry the Book Fairy! 📚✨
Join us in the community garden behind the library for a magical morning of books, songs, and nature-inspired fun.
Children and their caregivers will enjoy enchanting stories, playful rhymes, and a chance to explore the garden as we celebrate the wonder of plants, pollinators, and the joy of reading together.
✨Bring a small blanket or lawn chair for extra comfort and let your imagination bloom! ✨
🌈☀️🌧️ Rain or shine, storytime will go on - in case of inclement weather, we'll move inside and reschedule the garden portion for another day!
Recommended for preschoolers and older (geared for ages 4+), but all are welcome!
Registration recommended to reserve supplies, but all are welcome while supplies last!
Please register each child separately so we know how many friends to expect!

Derby Public Library to mark Read Across America Day Monday


 

The celebration will be held from 4-5 p.m. The Library is at 313 Elizabeth St., Derby.

Read Across America Day is a nationwide celebration created by the National Education Association held each year on March 2, honoring Dr. Seuss’s birthday and encouraging kids everywhere to discover the joy of reading.

Talk at Ansonia Library to highlight wealthy former slave's legacy



ANSONIA - Join us tomorrow Feb. 21 at 12 p.m. [at Ansonia Library] for a powerful presentation uncovering a remarkable New Haven family story with connections to Yale University. 

Based on research conducted at the Beinecke Library and highlighted in David Blight’s "Yale and Slavery," this program explores the life of a formerly enslaved inventor who died wealthy and the legacy of his family before 1920.

Descendant and New Haven native Denise Manning Keyes Page, founder of Ubuntu Storytellers and performer on The Moth Main Stage, will share two moving true stories about resilience, family, and rediscovered history.

Plumb Memorial Library in Shelton to host Family Fort Night



Ages: 3 years and older
Date: May 9
Time: 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Location: Plumb Memorial Library, 65 Wooster St., Shelton


Families with children 3 years old and older are welcome to join Miss Maura as we construct forts using sheets and lightweight blankets provided by participants. 
Once we have built our forts, we will all get underneath and enjoy a few cozy stories. Participants are asked to also please bring flashlights or camping lanterns, as we will be reading with the lights off and under our giant fort!! 

Registration is required for children only. Registration begins April 30 at noon through FB: Miss Maura's Programs or by calling 203-924-1580 ext. 5108.
