Volunteer to be a Friend in Grief at Adam's House in Shelton

SHELTON-  Want to volunteer in our program and be a Friend In Grief to children trying to cope with the death of a loved one? 

Become a FIG! All days must be completed in order to qualify to volunteer in group. A $100 fee includes background check and cost of materials. 

This training will be held on-site at Adam's House, 241 Coram Ave. There will be scheduled outside break-outs, weather permitting. 

All social distancing rules will be adhered to, to ensure the safety of all our volunteers.

Seymour Pumpkin Festival tradition to continue Sunday at French Memorial Park

SEYMOUR - The Seymour Pumpkin Festival will be held tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The festival that was started in 1965 is still running strong at French Memorial Park.

It features a large variety of homemade craft vendors, food vendors, live music, and kid-friendly activities!

Learn to draw birds in program at Kellogg Environmental Center in Derby

DERBY - The Kellogg Environmental Center staff will help science and art come together from 1-2:30 p.m. Oct. 9 in this outdoor, creative education program about birds. 

As participants explore the relationship between form and function, they’ll learn about the adaptations that make birds so successful in survival. 

After a staff-led presentation including a drawing tutorial, participants will be able to use birds from the Center’s taxidermy collection as models to create their own drawings. 

All abilities and skill levels are welcome. Drawing materials will be provided. 

Participants may stay longer if they wish to continue working on their drawings.

Admission is free and registration is required.
