ANSONIA - Police received a report of a two-car accident in the CVS / Burger King parking lot on Pershing Drive at about 2:10 p.m. today, Police Lt. Patrick Lynch said in a written release.
During the investigation, a separate altercation occurred where one male stabbed another male several times and a friend of the stabbing victim was cut on the hand during the incident, he said. The stabbing happened in front of the officer investigating the motor vehicle accident and the suspect was immediately taken into custody.

The victim, a 21 year-old male from Meriden, was transported to a local hospital for multiple stab wounds to the upper body. He is listed in serious but stable condition.

The suspect, Matthew Romans, 22, of Ansonia, was charged with Assault First Degree, Assault Third Degree, and Criminal Mischief Third Degree. Romans was held on a $75,000 bond and will be arraigned Wednesday at Derby Superior Court.
The investigation into the incident that led up to the stabbing is still under investigation and additional arrests are expected.

'Turnback Tuesday' features Victorian home of manufacturer

Turnback Tuesday visits this very beautiful Victorian home of Joseph and Emma Willmann at 66 Fifth St., Derby.

In 1904, Joseph was a noted inventor, manufacturer, and President of the Dairy Machinery Co. on Canal Street in Derby until 1920.

He then became President of Derby Brass & Copper Co.

In 1932, he moved to Boston for work at another manufacturing company.

Joseph moved into this home at 66 Fifth St. in 1908 and raised a family with wife Emma. While he was employed in Boston, Joseph kept this house as his home base until his death in January, 1963 at the age of 89. Images are of the front and back of the home.
