Derby Public Library to host cabin fever reading club
DERBY - Beginning Jan. 2 through Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. adult readers (18+ years old) complete the categories listed on a BINGO card and then cross off the appropriate square.
Every BINGO earns you an entry in the Grand Prize drawing.
A completely filled BINGO card equals 25 drawing entries!
BINGO cards are available at the circulation desk or can be downloaded from the library’s website starting Jan. 2.
Completed cards may be turned in at the circulation desk. Cards must be received by 6 p.m. Feb. 27, to be entered into the Grand Prize drawing.
You may submit more than one finished BINGO card. The winning ticket will be drawn at the "‘Spring’s-a-Comin’" celebration for all club members. You do not need to be present to win.

St. Vincent De Paul Food Bank of Derby in need of hams
DERBY - St. Vincent De Paul Food Bank is in desperate need of hams for its Christmas distribution later this week.
The organization needs at least 20. The food bank is at 237 Roosevelt Drive.
Please consider donating a ham to this nonprofit that helps so many needy Valley residents!
The food bank will be open from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Archbishop donates $3,550 to BHcare's The Umbrella Center
BHcare’s The Umbrella Center for Domestic Violence Services received a check in the amount of $3,550 from the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal through its Vicariate Outreach Program.
The funding will help UCDVS provide free, confidential services to more than 7,000 victims of domestic violence and their children each year.
Services such as emergency shelter, 24-hour crisis hotlines, walk-in crisis centers, counseling, advocacy and other supports are provided to those fleeing from domestic abuse.
“We are very appreciative of the many years of support from the Archdiocese of Hartford,” said Esperina Stubblefield, UCDVS Director. “The much-needed funding allows us to continue to make a difference in the lives of thousands of survivors and their children.”
UCDVS is a program of BHcare that provides services for victims and children of domestic violence free of charge. Each year, over 7,000 abused women and their children walk through the door of UCDVS looking for shelter, help and hope. Learn more at bhcare.org.

Ansonia Police: No press conference scheduled today
ANSONIA - Police Lt. Patrick Lynch said this afternoon there will be no press conference today, referring to the search for baby Vanessa Morales, 1, who has been missing since Dec. 3.
Derby Public Library to host January book discussion
DERBY - Derby Public Library will host a monthly Lunchtime Book Discussion at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 29.
January’s featured book will be “Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker” by Jennifer Chiaverini.
New York Times bestselling author Chiaverini’s compelling historical novel unveils the private lives of Abraham and Mary Lincoln through the perspective of the First Lady’s most trusted confidante and friend, her dressmaker Elizabeth Keckley.
Lunchtime Book Discussions are held the last Wednesday of the month and are free and open to the public.
Multiple copies of the book will be available at the circulation desk. The Library is at 313 Elizabeth St.

DERBY - Town/City Clerk Marc Garofalo has announced the Derby City Hall 2019 December Holiday Schedule.
City Hall will be open regular hours except for the following days:
Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019 – Closed – Christmas Eve
Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2019 – Closed – Christmas Day
Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019 – 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – New Year’s Eve
