Ho, ho, ho! Ansonia lights Christmas tree, welcomes Santa

The multi-colored lights of Ansonia's Christmas tree in Veterans Memorial Park next to City Hall were turned on Friday night. It was a wonderful, community event.
I realize the star is a bit blurry, but you get the idea.

Event coordinator Rich DiCarlo gets a giant snowman ready for the crowd.

Santa was there to greet the children before the "real one" arrived by firetruck.

City officials estimated about 400 people turned out for the tree lighting. The weather certainly cooperated.
"Smile for the camera!"

"It's a secret."
"Can you say that a little bit louder?"
This little boy had lots to tell Santa.

The annual Christmas tree lighting and visit from Santa was run by members of the commission.

"Away in a manger..." This Nativity scene is set up on the Green next to City Hall, as it has been in years past.

Santa pays early visit to Ansonia

Ansonia held its annual Christmas tree lighting Friday. The crowd was entertained by the Ansonia High School chorus led by music teacher Maria Tangredi, and Santa Claus arrived by fire truck, to the delight of all.

Stay tuned for many more photos of this festive community event!
