ANSONIA - Create gifts for your loved ones out of recycled materials in a free program at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 12 at Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center.

Up-cycle an old honey bottle into a colorful, mesmerizing sensory jar for your beary-special someone this Valentine’s Day (or make one just for fun!) 

Supplies are provided, but you are welcome to bring small odds and ends such as beads and buttons if you like. 

This will be a fun day to share with your family and friends!

Griffin Hospital in Derby to hold virtual presentations on bariatric surgery

DERBY - Griffin Bariatrics will offer free virtual presentations on weight-loss services on Tuesday, Jan. 25 at noon.; Feb. 7 at 5:30 p.m.; Feb. 16 at 5:30 p.m.; and Feb. 22 at noon.

Led by Griffin Hospital Director of Bariatrics Dr. Abe Fridman, these seminars will explain how bariatric surgery can help patients lose significant amounts of weight, enhance their health, and provide long-term outcomes. 

Additionally, techniques, support programs, pre- and post-operative expectations, and insurance questions are also discussed.
