Create a Valentine's Day gift from recycled materials at Ansonia Nature Center

ANSONIA - Create gifts for your loved ones out of recycled materials in a free program at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 12 at Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center.

Up-cycle an old honey bottle into a colorful, mesmerizing sensory jar for your beary-special someone this Valentine’s Day (or make one just for fun!) 

Supplies are provided, but you are welcome to bring small odds and ends such as beads and buttons if you like. 

This will be a fun day to share with your family and friends!

Tweens to create upcycled items at Plumb Memorial Library in Shelton

SHELTON - Tweens ages 10 and up will create a variety of craft projects with upcycled materials; drop in and express your inner artist!
The Library is at 65 Wooster St.

SEYMOUR - A new gift shop, “The Odd Piece,”  opened last week at 161 Main St. in the downtown antiques district.

Proprietors Kathleen Benedetto and Bernadette Pandolfe “upcycle,” or re-purpose, vintage collectibles. 

They create custom shadow boxes for customers needing a way to display their collections dust-free. A multitude of shadow boxes is displayed along a long wall.
