Seymour Pink celebrates with 25-percent off purchases at gift shop

Shared from the nonprofit's website:

"Our goal is to bring more awareness and education to the public about this disease and support to those that have been victimized by the breast cancer diagnosis.

"We continue to be so moved by the response of our community on this special day in October. So many members of our community wear pink, buy SEYMOUR PINK shirts, decorate their businesses, their homes with pink ribbons, pink balloons, pink flags etc.

"SEYMOUR goes PINK, PINK, and PINK! It is such a powerful statement about this disease and its impact on our community! It was at that point, SEYMOUR PINK became a 'community’s fight against breast cancer.'

"Each year, we hope that the momentum will continue to grow with local businesses, town agencies and departments and families getting involved by wearing PINK or displaying PINK at their places of work and residence. We would hope, that on that day, as many members of our community as possible would wear PINK! How will you increase awareness on that day?

"We look forward to going all-out Pink on Wednesday, October 20.

"Celebrate with us in 2021 at Hot Tamale Mexican Grill & Bar!"

SEYMOUR - A new gift shop, “The Odd Piece,”  opened last week at 161 Main St. in the downtown antiques district.
Proprietors Kathleen Benedetto and Bernadette Pandolfe “upcycle,” or re-purpose, vintage collectibles.

They create custom shadow boxes for customers needing a way to display their collections dust-free. A multitude of shadow boxes is displayed along a long wall.

Our thanks to Seymour resident Joe Luciano for contributing this story and photos.

DERBY - Michele Mahan-Bibber of Derby became the one millionth customer of Griffin Pharmacy & Gifts July 18.

As the milestone customer, Mahan-Bibber won a prize basket filled with gift cards and items from the store.

Established in 2000, Griffin Pharmacy & Gifts is a community pharmacy located on the ground floor of Griffin Hospital.
The store offers prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins and nutritional supplements, surgical supplies, gifts, flowers, and cards.

Griffin Pharmacy & Gifts staff and Manager Cathy Egan were excited to celebrate the historical transaction and thanked the Griffin community for the years of support.

“For more than 15 years we’ve grown to meet the ever-changing needs of Griffin's patients, employees and community,” Egan said.
“However, without our customers, we would not have reached this milestone. We thank all of our customers for their continued loyalty.”

This is a press release from Griffin Hospital.

Oxford resident creates 'Bookworm Bottles'

OXFORD - Ever wonder what to do with an empty bottle?
Resident Kate Mirabella has, and you can see how she used her creativity to make 'Bookworm Bottles' on display at Lizzie's Corner Consignment and Gifts at 19 Bank St. in Seymour.

Mirabella recently started making the literary-themed bottles.
Her mother, Elizabeth Pisano, opened Lizzie's Corner last month.
Pisano makes beautifully lit bottles. Her business is "Re-Designed by Elizabeth." I'm happy to say I won one of her creations in October during a raffle on Seymour Pink Day.

Snow White and Rapunzel are in the house!
Talk about bringing back childhood memories. These labels certainly do that.

And, I must agree with the label at left that says, "It's Always Tea-Time!

The moral of the story is: Go to Lizzie's Corner and check out the crafts and consigned items, including Kate's creative work.

Dreaming of a (Seymour) Pink Christmas

My daughter guessed correctly about what I wanted for Christmas: a breast cancer survivor bracelet created by Ansonia resident Alyssa Antonucci, owner of Beads By Alyssa

If you haven't heard about BBAs please visit the website linked above. All of Alyssa's bracelet creations are beautiful and made with love.

Allegra bought the bracelet at Seymour Pink gift shop, 3 Franklin St., Seymour.
The shop is closed until Jan. 5, when it will be open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
I highly recommend checking it out! You'll have fun shopping while supporting a great organization.
