Quiet evening at home

There's always time to relax, if you're a cat. What else do they have to do anyway?

Resume 'Right'-ing offered at Derby Public Library

DERBY - The Derby Public Library offers Resume “Right”-ing Workshops on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

During these sessions, participants are welcome to either start from scratch or bring copies of their existing resumes, cover letters as well, for review and optimizing.
Often times a new resume can be created simply by making a number of subtle tweaks versus a whole new change.

The next class will be held at 6:30 p.m. June 7.

Registration is not required.
For more information, stop by the Library, 313 Elizabeth St., call 203-736-1482, or visit www.derbypubliclibrary.org

Assistant principal at Ansonia elementary school saves student's life

ANSONIA - For the second time in as many months a John G. Prendergast Elementary School student has been saved from choking by a quick-thinking adult.

In March, longtime kindergarten aide Kimberlee Martin performed the Heimlich maneuver on Liam Angeski, 6, who was choking on a piece of popcorn chicken in the school cafeteria.
And in April Prendergast Assistant Principal Sara Crooks performed the Heimlich maneuver on sixth-grader Jordyn Zealor who was choking on a chicken nugget at lunch.

Please click here to read the story about Crooks by New Haven Register correspondent Jean Falbo-Sosnovich.

Kudos to both women for their quick actions in saving the students' lives.
