Derby mayor swears in fire chief, 3 assistants

Derby Mayor Anita Dugatto administered the oath of office Jan. 2 to the fire department's chief officers at a ceremony in Hotchkiss Hose Fire Company 1 Hall. 


They are:

Michael W. Goodman - Fire Chief
Robert J. Laskowski Jr. - 1st Assistant Chief
David M. Lenart - 2nd Assistant Chief 
Michael F. Gloade - 3rd Assistant Chief

NAACP Ansonia Branch to celebrate legacy of Martin Luther King


ANSONIA -The Ansonia Branch #2000 of the NAACP will celebrate the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at noon Monday at Macedonia Baptist Church, 243 Pershing Drive.
Keynote speaker will be the Rev. Alfred L. Smith Jr., pastor.

Monday is the Martin Luther King Day holiday.

All are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be available.

Derby Public Library hosts teen activities on Wednesdays



DERBY - The Derby Public Library hosts YA Wednesdays every month from 6-7:30 p.m. 
All young adults ages 12 to 17 are invited to join the fun each Wednesday in February as Nintendo Wii, board games, and Legos will be available. 

Light refreshments will be provided. Registration is requested.

SHELTON - Valentine's Day is approaching, which means it's time for the 11th annual Monkey Love Valentine Drive.

Organizers say new plush monkeys are once again being collected to warm the hearts❤️ of area children in need now through Feb. 10. 
Please bring (or mail) monkey donations to Jennifer Sneider, owner, J Cuts barber shop, 505 Howe Ave., where they are being collected.
