Shelton-based grief center, Adam’s House, will partner with Sperry Rail, Inc., the global leader in Rail Health® solutions, for The Great Give® on May 4 and 5.

SperryCares, Sperry’s charitable program, is generously donating $10,000 in matching gifts.

The Great Give® 2021 is the 12th major community-wide giving event benefiting Greater New Haven's nonprofits and occurring over an intense 36 hours from 8 a.m. May 4 to 8 p.m. May 5.

The Great Give® was created by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven through its online resource known as giveGreater.org® to strengthen nonprofits serving Greater New Haven by advancing knowledge about their work and increasing giving to their organizations. More than $13.5 million has been raised since The Great Give® began.

“As we continue to support the community in which we operate, we are honored to partner with Adam’s House for The Great Give®. The work done at Adam’s House is so important to grieving children and families in this community. It is our hope that this $10,000 matching donation will incentivize other supporters to donate to Adam’s House, knowing that their donation will double,” said Sperry Rail CEO Jamie O’Rourke.

Adam’s House is open to serve bereaved children ages 5-18 and their caregivers in the form of an eight-week peer support group called ‘Helping Hearts Heal,’ offered free of charge.

“The funds we raise during The Great Give® are crucial for us to continue to offer our services at no-cost to grieving Connecticut residents. We are incredibly grateful to SperryCares for donating this immensely generous gift. We are confident that with the help of our supporters, volunteers, board members and donors, every dollar they donated will be matched to attain our $40,000 goal,” said Allison Wysota, Adam’s House executive director.

As we continue to deal with the existing and ongoing impacts of the pandemic, The Great Give® encourages people to “give where you live” by supporting the needs of our local businesses and community members.

The $10,000 donated by SperryCares will be used to match donations. All donations are 100% tax-deductible.
