Derby Public Library slates Virtual Family Bingo Night

DERBY - Derby Public Library invites family members of all ages to a Virtual Family Bingo Night at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 22. 


Sign up each participant at the library’s Events Calendar, www.derbypubliclibrary.org

Households will be contacted to coordinate game materials pickup.

Naugatuck Valley Health District offers disposal pouches for unwanted meds

SEYMOUR - The Naugatuck Valley Health District shared the following post on Monday, International Overdose Awareness Day:

"If you have unused or unwanted medication, please call NVHD at 203-881-3255 x100 to request a free Deterra safe medication disposal pouch be mailed to your house.

"They are easy to use and make it safe to dispose of unwanted pills, liquid and/or medicated patches at home!" 



Derby Police seek info on shooting of male, 17, near athletic complex

DERBY - Derby Police are investigating a shooting that occurred early this morning, according to a post on the department's Facebook page.
At approximately 1 a.m., police were called to the area of Chatfield Street near the new Ryan sports complex on a report of several gunshots. Police later located a 17 year-old juvenile who was shot several times and was walking near Griffin Hospital.
The male was transferred to Yale New Haven Hospital and is in stable condition.

SHELTON - Kids can join Miss Jessica as she reads a story from the Huntington Branch Library's collection.
Attendees must register with an email address to receive a Zoom meeting ID and password.
