Ansonia Library offers take and make paper lantern tiger craft for kids


ANSONIA - 2022 is The Year of the Tiger and we [at Ansonia Library] have paper lantern tiger Take and Makes to help you celebrate the Lunar New Year in style on February 1!

All of the materials and instructions are included in this craft kit but supplies are limited so pick up your child's today!

St. Mary-St. Michael School in Derby to hold open house Sunday


DERBY - St. Mary-St. Michael School will hold an open house from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30 to kick off Catholic Schools Week 2022.

Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center slates free program on fly fishing

ANSONIA - The Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center will host a free program at 7 p.m. Feb.18 on fly fishing. 

The program covers all the essentials for beginners on how to fly fish. It will be in the form of a PowerPoint presentation as well as a ‘hands-on’ display of the items below. 


The program includes:

- Gear and equipment needed.

- Line, leader, and tippet setup.

- Life cycle of May Flies & Caddis.

- Fishing techniques and review of streamer fishing, nymphing, wet fly fishing, and dry fly fishing.

- Salt Water Fly Fishing in New England and the gear, equipment, and techniques

needed.

- The program will also include a brief overview of fly tying and the flies needed for fresh and saltwater fly fishing.

Derby Public Library hosts weekly scavenger hunt fun


 

Dinner to benefit St. Mary-St. Michael School in Derby



DERBY - St. Mary-St. Michael School will host a fundraiser featuring a chicken parmigiana dinner prepared by Nick DiGiovanni and family at 5 p.m. Feb. 12.
Meals will be prepared at St. Mary's Church, 212 Elizabeth St. Curbside pickup will be from 5-6:30 p.m. in St. Mary's Church parking lot.
Menu includes chicken parmigiana, pasta, salad, dinner roll, and dessert.
Meals are $14 each.
