'Turnback Tuesday' highlights electric trolley car in downtown Derby
Turnback Tuesday reminds us of the first electric trolley. Col. H. Holton Wood (Derby Public Library benefactor) was also involved in bringing the first electric trolley in New England to Derby in 1888. This postcard shows the Shelton, Pine Beach Park, Stratford, and Bridgeport line trolley most likely coming from Transfer Point heading towards Shelton.
If you look closely in the back of the photo on the right, you can see the ever-famous, green Howard & Barber sign. The trolley is about to head over Bridge Street into Shelton.

Ansonia Police identify victim of fatal motorcycle accident
ANSONIA - The victim in the fatal motorcycle accident Sunday on East Main and Main Streets is Kevin Parham, 55, of Norwalk, formerly of Ansonia, police said today.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death to be blunt trauma and the manner to be accidental.

Ansonia Police charge Milford man with larceny in stolen truck incident

ANSONIA - Ansonia Police responded to a suspicious activity complaint at about 6:50 a.m. Monday on Walkers Court, Lt. Patrick Lynch said in a written release.
A resident reported an unknown male parked a truck in their driveway then walked away leaving the truck in the driveway.
Officers located a male matching the description a short distance away.
The male confirmed he parked the truck there, turned over a key to the truck and stated he had borrowed it from a friend.
When the registered owner of the truck was contacted, the owner did not know the truck was missing, did not let anyone borrow the truck but did report there was a spare key left in the vehicle.
The suspicious male was also in possession of a small amount of marijuana.
The suspicious male, identified as Kyle Barone, 18, of Milford, was taken into custody and charged with larceny first degree and possession of marijuana.

Barone was held on a $30,000 bond and was to be arraigned today in Milford Court.
Barone also had an active arrest warrant from Ansonia Police for an incident in August where he broke into a car. Barone was charged with burglary third degree and held on a $10,000 bond to be arraigned today in Milford Court.

Ansonia Police issue winter parking regulations effective today
ANSONIA - Winter Parking Regulations will be in effect from December 1, 2020 thru March 31, 2021.
There shall be in the city a Twenty-Four hour (24) a day, seven (7) days a week, parking ban on all city streets and highways. The purpose is to allow snow equipment to remove snow and ice as quickly as possible from all city streets and highways, with the following exceptions:
For this winter season: Motor vehicles shall be allowed to be parked, starting on December 1, 2020, on the even-numbered side of municipal streets continuing until March 31, 2021.
City streets that display “No Parking Signs” shall be exempt from alternate side parking during the winter parking season in the area designated by the “No Parking Signs.” These streets include: South Cliff Street, North State Street, Crescent Street (Howard Ave to Day St.), Franklin Street (Jackson to Wakelee Ave), Colony Street, Division Street, North Spring Street (from Hill Street to Jewett Street), High Street (Lester St. to Howard Ave), Doyle Drive, Fourth Street (Gatison Park area). Church St., Holbrook St. (Pork Hollow to Jackson St.) and Pork Hollow.
Winter parking is allowed only on the odd side of the following street:
• Star Street
Parking is only permitted on the even numbered side of the following streets, regardless of the calendar year:
• Fifth Street;
• Jewett St. (North Spring Street to Platt Street);
• Hotchkiss Terrace (the area west of Kathy Lane);
• North Cliff Street;
• Colony Street, north of Gardner’s Lane;
• Park Place.
Parking is prohibited on the following streets: Stage Coach Road, Remer Street, Union Street, Crowley Street, Pleasant Street, Beaver Street, (North Street to the Seymour Line), Holbrook Court, Father Lar Drive, Lawton Terrace, Crescent Street (Howard Ave to Lester St.), North Fourth Street, Prospect Street, (Moulthrop St. to Viselli Court), Rockwood Ave. Ext., Viselli Court, Walkers Court, Oak Lane and Carver St.
Parking is prohibited on Main Street, West Main Street and East Main Street from 12:00 a.m. (midnight) to 6:00 a.m.
Any person receiving a written notice for violating the regulation must either submit payment of $15.00, or file a formal appeal, to the Police Department within ten (10) days. The fine will
increase to $30.00 after ten (10) days.
Residents should also be aware of the city regulation that requires the removal of snow and ice from sidewalks within 12 hours from the end of the snowfall.
The owner of the land and or the person having care and control of the property shall be responsible for the removal. Any violation of this may result in an infraction for violation of a town ordinance.

Derby Public Library offers virtual Teen Game Nights in December
DERBY - Derby Public Library invites all tweens and teens ages 10 to 17 to Virtual Teen Game Night from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Dec. 8 and 22.
Participants will have library-provided materials to compete in the classic game of skill and chance, 'YA'TZEE.
Zoom access link will be provided via email three days prior to game date.
