Derby Public Library to host educational Rain Stick workshop for kids


DERBY - Derby Public Library will hold a fun, in-person Rain Stick workshop for ages 5-11 at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

The educational workshop will be held outdoors. The Library is at 313 Elizabeth St.

Co-sponsored by South Central CT Regional Water Authority, kids will learn Rain Stick origins and, with adult supervision, create their own!

Osborne Homestead in Derby to celebrate Connecticut Historic Gardens Day

DERBY - Visit the Osborne Homestead Museum, 500 Hawthorne Ave., from 12-4 p.m. Sunday, June 27 to celebrate the 18th Annual Connecticut’s Historic Gardens Day.

The Osborne Homestead Museum, one of 15 members of the prestigious Connecticut’s Historic Gardens, will provide free self-guided tours of the museum and its gardens.
Guests can enjoy the lovely Colonial Revival gardens of the Kellogg Estate and tour the historic house museum to learn about Frances Osborne Kellogg’s love of flowers and land conservation.

For the self-guided garden tours, registration is not required. However registration is required for the self-guided tours of the museum. 
Tickets for the museum’s self-guided tours will be for slots available at noon, 1, 2, and 3 pm. 
Self-guided tours are estimated to last approximately 45 minutes to one-hour. Please plan to be at the museum’s Studio entrance five minutes before your tour time to guarantee entry. Availability is limited to 10 people per hour.
