Free outdoor showing of 'Hamilton' slated Saturday in Beacon Falls

BEACON FALLS - Join us at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8 at the Beacon Falls Recreation Field for a special outdoor showing of Hamilton in honor of America’s 250th anniversary!

The movie will begin at dusk. Bring your own chairs, blankets, snacks, and drinks, then settle in for a night under the stars.

This event is co-sponsored by the Beacon Falls Parks & Recreation Department and the Beacon Falls 250th Committee.

Get ready for lots of fun this Saturday (2/28)! Our rescheduled Kritter Pet Kreations visit is at 10 a.m. (RSVP required- space is limited)

If you are currently registered and are unable to make the new date, please let us know so that we can make your tickets available.

Book Bundles for the Laurel Ledge Read-A-Thon will also be available - check out a bundle or make your own and get entered into a prize drawing!

We'll also have crafts, snacks, and play time in the Library from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Watercolor class slated March 2 at Beacon Falls Senior Center

BEACON FALLS - Enjoy a relaxing, beginner-friendly Watercolor Class with Rich DiCarlo at the Beacon Falls Senior Center, 57 N. Main St.

This hands-on class is designed for those new to watercolor as well as anyone looking to explore painting in a low-pressure, supportive environment.

Participants will learn basic watercolor techniques and enjoy the creative process together. The subject of the painting will be revealed the night of the class, adding an element of surprise and fun.

All experience levels are welcome, and no prior painting experience is necessary.

Etched glass workshop on tap Nov. 13 at Beacon Falls Senior Center

Etch a design into a glass bottle using etching cream. The bottle can then be used to make a reed diffuser or decorate with dried flowers.

It will be hosted by award-winning sportswriter and author Marty Gitlin.

Take a journey from the beginning of the men's and women's programs to the present with video highlights of their greatest teams, players, and events from the turn of the 20th century to today.

The presentation will also feature fun trivia questions for patrons to ponder and answer, as well as a Q&A following. 

This is an ideal program for any UConn basketball fan - men's, women's or both! So join in on the fun!

BEACON FALLS - Learn how to coexist with our neighbor the bobcat in a presentation at Beacon Falls Senior Center, 57 N. Main St.

 Local wildlife expert Paul Colburn will join us with this informative talk and answer your questions about wild cats.

This presentation focuses on the history of bobcats in Connecticut, an overview of bobcat habitat, diet, behavior, reproduction, and current research efforts. 

Bobcat artifacts are shared with the audience. Mountain lions are discussed.

Colburn is a 2015 graduate of the Connecticut Master Wildlife Conservationist Program and a certified Master Wildlife Conservationist. 

The MWCP is a Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection adult education program that trains volunteers in the fields of wildlife management, natural history and interpretation. Colburn is a dedicated advocate for wildlife and is passionate about sharing his knowledge with others. 

He is particularly focused on teaching the basics of living responsibly with wildlife. He has provided hundreds of wildlife presentations for a wide variety of public and private organizations in all corners of the state. 

He is a graduate of Wesleyan University and served honorably in the United States Army.
