Yoga & Wellness program slated at Plumb Memorial Library in Shelton


Date: May 6 and 20
Time: 5:45 - 6:45 p.m.
Location: Plumb Memorial Library, 65 Wooster St., Shelton
Yin Yoga is a form of yoga that combines ancient Asian and Indian philosophy.
In this class, grounded poses will be held for 3-5 minutes paired with deep breathing, allowing the fascia tissue of the joints to get a nice stretch. An extended savasana will be enjoyed at the end, accompanied by the calming sounds of singing bowls.
This class is designed to be beginner friendly.
Please bring water, a blanket, and any other props you think you may need. Yoga mats are not required, as the library has a set, but bring your own mat if you wish.

Instructor Bio: Shannon has been practicing yoga for over five years. Since working at a yoga studio and wellness center in 2021, she knew she wanted to help others physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Shannon is Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga, and Reiki Il certified, and is currently pursuing her Reiki Masters certification. Her future prospects include opening a wellness practice of her own. In her free time, Shannon enjoys reading, writing, painting, and being in nature as much as possible.

Watercolor class slated March 2 at Beacon Falls Senior Center


BEACON FALLS - Enjoy a relaxing, beginner-friendly Watercolor Class with Rich DiCarlo at the Beacon Falls Senior Center, 57 N. Main St.

This hands-on class is designed for those new to watercolor as well as anyone looking to explore painting in a low-pressure, supportive environment.
Participants will learn basic watercolor techniques and enjoy the creative process together. The subject of the painting will be revealed the night of the class, adding an element of surprise and fun.

All experience levels are welcome, and no prior painting experience is necessary.
$8 Material Fee

Derby Neck Library to host portrait drawing class Sunday


Sunday Crafternoon 
DERBY - Join Sarah for a fun and educational portrait drawing class from 2:30-4 p.m. Sunday at Derby Neck Library.
Please note: this is an intermediate class,  recommended for people who are already familiar with basic drawing techniques.

Plumb Memorial Library in Shelton moves Tai Chi class day


SHELTON - Plumb Memorial Library is offering Tai Chi workshops for adults.
Starting in July, the sessions will be held on Thursday mornings from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Meeting Room.
The class will be taught by Debbie Wooley, a certified instructor with the Health Institute who has been practicing Tai Chi for the past 10 years and been teaching it for five years.
She will be teaching the Tai Chi for Arthritis method which uses the Sun style. Each class will begin and end with a series of warm up and cool down exercises.
There is no prerequisite to participate in this class. No equipment is necessary and participants may do this seated if they feel more comfortable.
The program is free and open to the public.

The Library is at 65 Wooster St.

Seymour Public Library to serve up fun for kids to learn about food


SEYMOUR - Join Tiny Food Explorers at 11 a.m. Oct. 1 at Seymour Public Library for an hour of food, fun, and exploration! 
Bring your tiniest chefs, picky eaters and great eaters and create a delicious snack together.
Food Explorers classes provide a no-pressure environment for our littlest eaters to explore food and new flavors. Recipes are nut free but may contain dairy, eggs, and gluten.
Best for children ages 3-6. Registration is required and limited. The Library is at 46 Church St.
