Cassetti announces 2 tax relief programs for Ansonia residents

Community Message!
Good evening residents of the Great City of Ansonia.
This is Mayor David Cassetti. I hope you are all safe and doing well! I want you to know that your city government has been working hard on your behalf during this difficult time, and that some help is on the way.
Next week I am recommending that the Ansonia Board of Aldermen adopt TWO separate tax relief programs made possible by Governor Lamont’s Executive Orders.
The FIRST tax relief program will give ELIGIBLE residents and business owners an extension of time to pay city taxes and fees. Eligibility will be based on lost income or revenue. An application for this program will be made available online this month.
The SECOND tax relief program will reduce interest on late payments for taxes and fees down to 3% for a period of 90 days. This Low Interest Rate program will be available to ALL taxpayers without need for application.
Now, the Governor only requires ONE of these programs to be adopted. However, I believe our taxpayers are entitled to the MAXIMUM amount of tax relief possible. That’s why we will DOUBLE DOWN by adopting BOTH programs.
I would also like to take this opportunity to urge ALL residents to wear masks when leaving their homes. Now IS NOT the time to let our guard down!
BUT PLEASE REMEMBER NOT TO LEAVE PROTECTIVE MASKS AND GLOVES BEHIND! Leaving your protective equipment in parking lots and public areas just creates a mess for others to clean-up, and does not help our situation.
Finally, please check the City’s website and Facebook pages for information on accessing this Tuesday’s virtual Board of Aldermen meeting and a second virtual Town Hall occurring this Thursday night.
Have a wonderful weekend. Until next time, stay safe and ANSONIA strong!
