Shelton Reading Circle to discuss 'Behold the Dreamers'


SHELTON - We [at the Shelton Reading Circle] look forward to seeing you at our usual location at the Shelton Community Center on March 12, from 6:30-8 p.m.
We will discuss "Behold the Dreamers" by Imbolo Mbue.
The book tells the story of a young Cameroonian couple making a new life in New York just as the Great Recession upends the economy.

The community center is at 41 Church St.

Plumb Memorial Library in Shelton to show 'Mission Impossible: Day of Reckoning'


SHELTON - Plumb Memorial Library is offering a bimonthly “Friday Films” series at 1 p.m. Fridays in the downstairs Meeting Room.
The Library is at 65 Wooster St.

The featured film on March 8 is Mission Impossible: Day of Reckoning.

No registration is required and light refreshments will be served.

Seymour Public Library to host Tweens Try Tuesdays program


 

SEYMOUR - Seymour Public Library has scheduled a monthly program for tweens ages 9-12 starting March 5.

Join us at 4:30 p.m. one Tuesday a month as we try some new foods together and chat about tv, school, and books!

Great Hill UMC in Seymour to host baked potato fundraiser Saturday

SEYMOUR -Baked potatoes: it's what for dinner this Saturday, March 2 at Great Hill United Methodist Church, 225 Great Hill Road.

From 5-7 p.m. (or while supplies last!), you can enjoy a baked potato with all the fixings (bacon bits, broccoli, butter, cheese, chives, chili, sour cream), a beverage (coffee, hot tea, soda, bottled water), and a dessert (brownie or cookie pack) for $10 per person. 

No reservations required.

Ansonia Fire Department holds training for cold water rescue



ANSONIA - Members of the Ansonia Fire Department conducted their annual cold water rescue training Sunday morning at Fountain Lake.

The city's fire companies are trying to get young kids interested in joining the fire department. Please contact any of the fire companies if you are interested.

Derby Public Library to host discussion of 'West with Giraffes'


 

DERBY - Derby Public Library to host February Book Discussion: "West with Giraffes" by Lynda Rutledge fromt 1-2 p.m. Thursday.

The book is an emotional, rousing novel inspired by the incredible true story of two giraffes who made headlines and won the hearts of Depression-era America.

The Library is at 313 Elizabeth St.
