Griffin Health caregiver named to prestigious 40 under 40 list

Bryan Bostic

 DERBY - Griffin Health caregiver Bryan Bostic of Ansonia was recently named to the 2024 Westfair Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 list for his compassion and devotion as a health care professional and for commitment to his community.

The 40 under 40 recognition is given to individuals between the ages of 25 and 40 years old who are leaders in Fairfield County’s business growth.

Bostic has been a caregiver at Griffin Health for 16 years, starting as a patient transport dispatcher. 

While working at Griffin, Bryan enrolled at Southern Connecticut State University and proudly earned a BA in Business Administration in May 2016.

When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, Bostic was called to serve as Griffin’s Laboratory Call Center Lead, where he helped maintain 126 skilled nursing facility accounts during Connecticut Department of Public Health COVID-19 Testing Program. 

This career move led to Bostic becoming a laboratory account representative, managing 50 accounts for skilled nursing facilities. In January of 2024, he was elevated to employee wellness navigator, providing fellow Griffin caregivers with guidance on high-quality health care options to maximize their savings.

For his exemplary patient-centered work during the COVID-19 pandemic, Bostic was named Griffin’s 2020 Employee of the Year. The award was the culmination of several Employee of the Month awards and a Planetree Spirit of Caring Award in 2018 that reflect Bostic’s leadership at Griffin, including serving on Griffin’s Planetree Steering and Thankful Thursdays committee.

Bostic is also a distinguished 2022 Graduate of the Leadership Greater Valley Program, an 8-week intensive community leadership program sponsored by the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce, where he was a great contributor. He currently serves on FUEL, the Advisory Board of the Chamber's Young Professionals Group.

“Bryan is truly a devoted, compassionate and award-winning health care professional who has made an indelible mark on all those that he comes in contact with,” the nomination for Bryan stated. “Bryan is deeply admired and respected by his colleagues at Griffin Health and serves as a model for others to emulate. His warm smile and engaging personality sets Bryan apart and has endeared him to others.”

Munch Eatery in Ansonia to host Valley Chamber's Leap of Kindness After Hours

 ANSONIA - Join Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce members from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Feb. 29 to wrap-up and celebrate the February 2024 Leap of Kindness Challenge between our networking groups and councils! 

The team from Munch Eatery will be showcasing some of their delicious catering options. 

There will, of course, be networking and more. Plus we will announce the winning team from the competition! Cash bar.

Munch Eatery is located at 560 Main St. The event is sponsored by Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce and Traveler on a Mission.

Admission is simply the donation of a hygiene item for a teen (see list below for suggestions). 

Donations will be split between Traveler on a Mission and the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley.

Valley Chamber of Commerce presents Silver Hammer Award to City of Ansonia

ANSONIA - Mayor David S. Cassetti, Economic Development Director Sheila O’Malley, and Corporation Counsel John Marini recently accepted the Silver Hammer Award from the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce on behalf of the City.

Each year the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce presents its Silver Hammer Award to acknowledge local construction or renovation projects that have made a positive impact on the community. 

The award was given in recognition of the City’s Downtown Police Station/Senior Center project at 65 Main St.  

Thank you to our Board of Aldermen and staff for making this project a reality. 

The Mayor and his team thanked Chamber  President Bill Purcell and Ken Weinstein of Newtown Savings Bank. 

Weinstein introduced the Mayor at the ceremonial event, held at the Brownson Country Club in Shelton. 

Cassetti's his team and the Board of Aldermen successfully crafted an agreement which resolved blight issues, put the former owners of the site on a path to develop market rate housing on the same block downtown and freed up this building to serve the residents of Ansonia. 

“I would like to thank my team and the residents of the City of Ansonia and congratulate the other recipients including Farrel-Pomini Corporation, which was given a Milestone award in recognition of 175 years of business in Ansonia, Digiorgi Roofing and Siding, Inc., ShopRite of Shelton, and the Cingari Family, and Greenwich Workshop of Seymour,” Cassetti said.

Economic development forum slated Friday at Ansonia Senior Center

ANSONIA - Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the City, invites you to join us Sept. 22 for a morning breakfast forum with Mayor David S. Cassetti and his economic development team to discuss the Ansonia economy.

Following welcoming remarks by our sponsor and host, Cassetti will join Sheila O’Malley, Economic Development Director, to review initiatives underway in the City.

What is Leadership Greater Valley?

Leadership Greater Valley combines leadership skill building with community education. 

It is an eight-week program where participants get a bird’s-eye view of the issues facing the community, begin developing the leadership skills necessary to assume leadership roles, and are exposed to involvement opportunities in the community. This program has helped professionals to improve their leadership skills and form a deeper connection within their community.
