Munch Eatery in Ansonia to host Valley Chamber's Leap of Kindness After Hours


 ANSONIA - Join Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce members from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Feb. 29 to wrap-up and celebrate the February 2024 Leap of Kindness Challenge between our networking groups and councils! 

The team from Munch Eatery will be showcasing some of their delicious catering options. 

There will, of course, be networking and more. Plus we will announce the winning team from the competition! Cash bar.

Munch Eatery is located at 560 Main St. The event is sponsored by Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce and Traveler on a Mission.

Admission is simply the donation of a hygiene item for a teen (see list below for suggestions). 

Donations will be split between Traveler on a Mission and the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley.

Most needed items: Soap (Bar); Shampoo; Conditioner; Lotion; Sanitary Napkins; Razors; Deodorant; Toothpaste; and Toothbrush.
Other items: Underwear; Bras; and Socks.

Leadership Greater Valley provides the participants exposure to the many dimensions of our #ValleyCT
Learn more about our history, government, nonprofits and more. As an added bonus, you will grow your skills as a leader through hands-on skills training.
Who should apply?
Open to all 18+ living and/or working in our Valley communities (Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Derby, Oxford, Seymour & Shelton).
 Anyone looking to enhance their leadership and networking skills. Individuals interested in learning about the Valley CT region: its history, its organizations, its people, and more. Applications now available, email us today.
What is Leadership Greater Valley?
Leadership Greater Valley combines leadership skill building with community education. 
It is an eight-week program where participants get a bird’s-eye view of the issues facing the community, begin developing the leadership skills necessary to assume leadership roles, and are exposed to involvement opportunities in the community. This program has helped professionals to improve their leadership skills and form a deeper connection within their community. 
Currently, over 300 alumni have taken on a variety of active roles in our region, from joining non-profit Board of Directors to running for (and winning) elected offices.

PowHERful Conversations networking event slated at Quarry Walk in Oxford



OXFORD - The stage has been set for stimulating panel discussions Aug. 17 with some of the region's most successful women business leaders at Quarry Walk, 300 Oxford Road. The event will run from 3-7 p.m.

Radio personality Ann Baldwin, President and CEO of Baldwin Media, will serve as moderator. 
This will be followed by guided tours of this award-winning lifestyle center with a focus on the 15 women-owned businesses on campus.
 
Panelists include:

Entrepreneurial grant applications sought, fundraiser slated in Seymour

The Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce Women In Networking Council is now accepting applications for its Annual Entrepreneurial Grant program. 
If you have (or know of) a woman-owned business in Shelton, Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Derby, Oxford, or Seymour, please contact the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce for a copy of the application!

A fund-raising event is planned for Sept. 28 from 5:30 -9:30 p.m.- a Retro 80's Night at The Strand Theater, 165 Main St., Seymour. It will feature the showing of the iconic 80's film Working Girl.

Career Coach to visit Derby Public Library July 15

DERBY - The American Job Search Career Coach will return to the Derby Public Library, 313 Elizabeth St., from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. July 15.

During both the morning session, 10 a.m.-noon, and the 
afternoon session, 1-3 p.m., instructors will offer the class, Using Social Networking in Your Job Search.  

Both sessions will explain very useful tools that job seekers need today.  
Social networking has become one of the most popular ways of landing your next “big” job by creating useful connections online. 
These connections make it easier to look for a job online through your created network.

The classes are free and open to the public.  


Registration is requested but walk-ins will be welcomed on a first come, first served basis. 
The American Job Search Career Coach is operated by Career Resources.
