Derby Neck Library collecting hygiene items for Traveler on a Mission

"Just TWO WEEKS left to donate to our Hygiene Drive in partnership with Traveler on a Mission! We are collecting hygiene products such as soap, sanitizing wipes,
toothbrushes, deodorant, toilet paper, etc. to support children and families in need.
"In addition to organizing material support, Traveler on a Mission runs workshops to promote good health and hygiene practices in kids, including right here at Derby Neck!
"Thank you to all who are able to contribute to this important cause, and thanks to Tanaya and her team for providing these services to the community!"

Derby Neck Library is at 307 Hawthorne Ave., Derby.

Munch Eatery in Ansonia to host Valley Chamber's Leap of Kindness After Hours


 ANSONIA - Join Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce members from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Feb. 29 to wrap-up and celebrate the February 2024 Leap of Kindness Challenge between our networking groups and councils! 

The team from Munch Eatery will be showcasing some of their delicious catering options. 

There will, of course, be networking and more. Plus we will announce the winning team from the competition! Cash bar.

Munch Eatery is located at 560 Main St. The event is sponsored by Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce and Traveler on a Mission.

Admission is simply the donation of a hygiene item for a teen (see list below for suggestions). 

Donations will be split between Traveler on a Mission and the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley.

Most needed items: Soap (Bar); Shampoo; Conditioner; Lotion; Sanitary Napkins; Razors; Deodorant; Toothpaste; and Toothbrush.
Other items: Underwear; Bras; and Socks.

Weekly Wishlist & Update
Good Morning Community!!!
Huge thanks to YOU for helping distribute close to 3,000 lbs of food to our neighbors last month !
We are consistently blown away by the way this community rallies together to show up for each other. It’s what makes us proud to live here.
With more holidays coming in December, and the rising cost of heating, we are counting on your continued support to keep the pantry well supplied. 🫶🏻
Our consistently most needed items are:
👉🏻 PROTEINS (tuna, chicken, salmon, nuts)
👉🏻 microwave meals (Hormel, chef Boyardee, instant Mac and cheese)
👉🏻 pasta & sauce
👉🏻 canned vegetables
👉🏻 snacks (popcorn, crackers, granola bars)
We will also gladly accept fresh produce, including from your gardens.
Hygiene products like tooth brushes, tooth paste, soap, pads/tampons, and shampoo are also always needed and deeply appreciated.

Good Morning!
We are wrapping up another RECORD BREAKING month, having already distributed approximately 2,500 lbs. of food in August.
There seem to be no signs of slowing down as the summer begins to wind to a close. It is consistently heartbreaking to see how busy the traffic at the pantry is.
However, it is EQUALLY overwhelming to see how this community shows up for each other and continues to come together to support our neighbors in need.
We so deeply love and appreciate each of you. Your kindness truly matters. 🫶🏻

Thank you EVERYONE who has been dropping off and shipping donations! The Pantry remains insanely busy. We have distributed well OVER 2,000 LBS of food so far this month which is a 33% INCREASE from our previous record. It has been incredibly challenging to keep food on our shelves which is why we REALLY mean it when we say every little bit matters. 🫶🏻
Our most needed items are:
