Blessing Pantry in Seymour needs volunteers to unload food shipment

Hello Community!
Our friends at The Blessing Pantry need our help!!!
We are gathering volunteers again to assist with unloading their monthly food shipment from the Midwest Food bank.
Each month, volunteers from The Blessing Pantry travel to the Midwest Foodbank in Manchester and bring back THOUSANDS of pounds of food to help feed our neighbors.

We are looking for individuals to help with unloading these food items April 16 at 12:30 p.m.
Just in case you can’t tell from the photos, it’s actually a lot of FUN. It’s also a great way to meet your neighbors while giving back to the community.
If you have an hour or two to spare and are interested in volunteering please reach out to the Blessing Pantry.
We are looking forward to collaborating with you!

Little Free Pantry on Skokorat in Seymour shares wishlist

It’s that time of the week when we share our wishlist.

This week we are changing things up and sharing what we DO have in stock because it’s not a lot of variety:

Shelf stable milk & canned vegetables (mostly corn and green beans)

That means we will happily and GRATEFULLY accept ANY nonperishable donations. Donor’s choice. 😉

We also appreciate bread, produce, and hygiene product donations. 🪥

To make things a little easier, we have updated our Amazon Wishlist. 👇🏻

Also, if you or someone you know is in need of a holiday meal box, please let us know!

Thanks SO MUCH for all your support! We love and appreciate you!

Little Free Pantry on Skokorat in Seymour posts wishlist

Weekly Wishlist
Good Morning Everyone!
The BAD NEWS is that our shelves are completely EMPTY. We put out the last of our supplies out yesterday.
The GOOD NEWS is that people are still donating items directly into the pantry.
When we don’t have extra supplies on hand, it makes it difficult to ensure we have a good variety of items. It’s also difficult to keep the pantry from becoming empty. Given that we understand how challenging it is for many of our neighbors to get to us, we try hard to make sure we always have something on our shelves.
WHY ARE WE SO BUSY?
With costs continuing to rise, so does our town’s ALICE population.
ALICE is a acronym for Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed- meaning individuals & families who are working and still can’t afford their basic needs. Almost HALF of our neighbors are now falling into this bracket. Often these individuals are making too much to qualify for assistance, despite earning too little to afford their basic household expenses.
Our consistently most needed items are:
👉🏻 PROTEINS (tuna, chicken, salmon, nuts)
👉🏻 microwave meals (Hormel, chef Boyardee, instant Mac and cheese)
👉🏻 pasta & sauce
👉🏻 canned vegetables
👉🏻 snacks (popcorn, crackers, granola bars)
We will also gladly accept fresh produce, including from your gardens. 🥒🥦🥕
Hygiene products like tooth brushes, tooth paste, soap, pads/tampons, and shampoo are also always needed and deeply appreciated.
You can drop off items in person by either placing them directly into the Pantry or into the black donation bin by our garage door. You can also order through our Amazon Wishlist https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/31DQMG6QQ65HX.... OR you can have items shipped or delivered to 58 Skokorat St.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!
As always, thank you SO MUCH for all your support! We love and appreciate you! ❤️

Little Free Pantry on Skokorat seeks collaboration, promotes All In for Seymour

SEYMOUR - Thanks to your support, last month we [at Little Free Pantry on Skokorat] distributed over 3,217 lbs of food.
With the volume of food we’re moving, we’d love to tell you we’ve been able to keep the pantry consistently well supplied.
However that, unfortunately, just isn’t the case. We’ve had SO MANY generous donations in the form of shipments, drop offs, and even fresh eggs. It all goes as quickly as it comes in.
FORTY percent of our neighbors in Seymour are struggling to meet their basic needs. That’s almost one in two. With the temperatures dropping we are expecting the traffic at the pantry to continue to increase.
This is why we mean it when we say EVERY DONATION MATTERS. No bit of kindness is ever wasted here.
If you are an organization, business, group, or family who would like to adopt filling the pantry for a day, host a food drive, or have a collection box please let us know.
We would love to collaborate with you to help meet the steady increase in demand!
If you would like to be a part of helping to solve the problem of food insecurity or find a way to be more active in the town, please join us at our next ALL IN for Seymour meeting on Tuesday, Nov.14 at 6 p.m. at Seymour Congregational Church.
Just a reminder that our consistently most needed items are:
👉🏻 PROTEINS (tuna, chicken, salmon, nuts)
👉🏻 microwave meals (Hormel, chef Boyardee, instant Mac and cheese)
👉🏻 pasta & sauce
👉🏻 canned vegetables
👉🏻 snacks (popcorn, crackers, granola bars)
