Police charge Ansonia man, 22, in July 2019 shooting

ANSONIA - Ansonia Police Tuesday arrested Demetrus Robinson, 22, of Ansonia for his involvement in the July 23, 2019 shooting at the corner of Howard Avenue and Church Street.
Robinson was charged with Assault First Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Assault First Degree, Carrying a Pistol without a Permit, Illegal Discharge of a Firearm, and Reckless Endangerment First Degree.
Robinson was held on a $250,000 bond and will be arraigned on July 23, 2021.
This is the third arrest in the shooting investigation with all involved parties being arrested for their involvement. The following individuals were previously arrested.
On Jan. 28, 2020, Rajohn Joti-James, 21, of Ansonia was charged with Carrying a Pistol without a Permit.
On May 26, 2020, Nicholas Verderosa, 22, of Oxford was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Assault First Degree, and Criminal Liability for Assault First Degree.

On July 23, 2019, at 12:20 P.M. the Ansonia Police Department received complaints of shots fired on Howard Avenue in the area of Church Street.
Callers reported a black male running from the scene, possibly shot. Shortly after the initial report of shots fired, Griffin Hospital contacted the police department reporting a gunshot victim in the emergency room.
The victim of the shooting was a 21-year-old Ansonia resident who was shot multiple times. The victim fled the scene of the shooting and was transported to the hospital by private vehicle. The victim was transferred from Griffin Hospital to a New Haven hospital where he is listed as serious but stable.
Officers located the scene of the shooting on Howard Avenue and Church Street. Numerous shell casings of different calibers were located on Howard Avenue and Church Street indicating at least two people shooting in the area. There were more than a dozen shots fired in the incident.
The Ansonia Police Department is asking anyone with information or any residents in the Howard Avenue and Church Street areas with video cameras outside their homes to contact the Ansonia Police Department at 203-735-1885.

Ansonia Police seek help finding 3 robbery suspects

ANSONIA - At about 11:10 a.m. today the Ansonia Police Department responded to the corner of Wakelee Avenue and Pork Hollow Road for a reported robbery, Lt. Patrick Lynch said in a written release.
Three suspects approached the victim after he parked on Pork Hollow Road, two were armed with handguns, and the suspects stole personal items from the victim.
The suspects left the scene in a white 2020 Hyundai Genesis, which was stolen out of Waterbury, and previously used in a purse snatching and attempted car theft in Shelton.
The Hyundai has since been found unoccupied in Waterbury.
The first suspect was described as a black male, tall and thin wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black and white sneakers and carrying a handgun.
The second suspect was a light-skinned male with dark curly hair wearing a blue/gray/white hooded zip up, gray pants, dark sneakers, and carrying a handgun.
The third suspect was a white male, heavy set wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue T-shirt, blue shorts, and blue and white sneakers.
