Recuperation journey: Retired AHS principal seeking kidney donor

On Monday I spoke with Wilhemenia Christon, retired Ansonia High School principal.

She told me she has Polycystic Kidney Disease, and is on the transplant list at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She is hoping to find a living donor who will be a match for her.

I also have PKD.
I told her I'd post this information on my blog to help get the word out she's seeking help.

Raising awareness and helping others with renal disease is exactly why I'm revealing so much about myself in these series of post-transplant posts. Now I hope to help Wilhemenia get a kidney transplant as I did.

If anyone is interested in being tested to see if they are a match she asks them to please call the Yale-New Haven Hospital transplant center at 203-785-2565.

Recuperation journey: Waiting for a package

The Chordettes

This is currently playing in my head, with apologies to The Chordettes:

"Mr. Fedex, bring me my pills" to be sung to the tune of "Mr. Sandman," an oldie but goodie.

I'm grateful my post-transplant medications are delivered to my door. Automatic refill and delivery make life so much easier!
The pharmacy didn't send my recently prescribed med with all the others last week but it will be here today, via "Mr." FedEx.

That's what put that tune from 1954 into my head!  ðŸ˜Š

SHELTON - Just when you are looking for more things to occupy your children this summer, Shelton Historical Society offers Adventures in History, its enrichment program for boys and girls ages 7-12.

It will be held Aug. 7-11, 9 a.m.-noon, at the Shelton History Center complex, 70 Ripton Road.
Disguised among playing forgotten games, creating useful objects using simple tools, and concocting wholesome snacks from fresh ingredients, participants will learn
lessons about how life was during the early 1900s.
Area educators volunteer to instruct the program.

The program is $155/child for non-members.  For Shelton Historical Society members the cost is $120/child.

Registration is limited and forms are available online at
www.sheltonhistoricalsociety.org. Aug. 1 is the deadline for registration.

There are six historic 19th century buildings, including the Brownson House, the Trap Fall School, and the Wilson Barn, that comprise Shelton History Center, located one-half mile north of the Huntington Green.
Shelton Historical Society personnel staff the facility and its research library, and care for its collections part-time or by appointment.

The mission of the Shelton Historical Society is to preserve elements of the community's history in order to create lasting and meaningful connections between Shelton's past, present, and future generations through education, maintaining a museum with its collections, and providing a voice in the community regarding matters of historical significance.

Children who participate in Adventures in History will become familiar with all the buildings as they make comparisons between their experiences and those of their ancestors.
They just might have some old-fashioned fun, too!
