History of Hollywood in the '50s program slated at Plumb Memorial Library in Shelton
SHELTON - Plumb Memorial Library will host 'I Love Lucy or I Love the Movies: How Hollywood Fought Back in the 1950s' at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 28.
Television in the 1950s was making inroads into movie theater attendance.
The most profound process was Cinerama which was introduced in 1953 with a huge curved screen and brand new “stereophonic” sound. Then came 3D Natural Vision and shortly thereafter wide screen CinemaScope and CinemaScope 55. VistaVision took a different tack and master showman Mike Todd came up with wide screen Todd-AO.
The presentation will cover how each process worked, benefits and pitfalls of each, and their impact on today’s theater productions. There will be visual examples of each.
The Library is at 65 Wooster St.

Recuperation journey: Waiting for a package
| The Chordettes |
This is currently playing in my head, with apologies to The Chordettes:
"Mr. Fedex, bring me my pills" to be sung to the tune of "Mr. Sandman," an oldie but goodie.
I'm grateful my post-transplant medications are delivered to my door. Automatic refill and delivery make life so much easier!
The pharmacy didn't send my recently prescribed med with all the others last week but it will be here today, via "Mr." FedEx.
That's what put that tune from 1954 into my head! 😊
