Seymour Public Library to host talk on Capt. Cook

SEYMOUR - The Seymour Public Library will host a presentation on Capt. James Cook (1728-1779), a British explorer, navigator, cartographer, and captain in the Royal Navy at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Cook sailed and mapped vast areas of uncharted land.
From Alaska to Hawaii, Newfoundland to Africa, his words sum up his drive, “Ambition leads me not only farther than any man has been before me, but as far as I think it is possible for a man to go.”
On Cook’s third voyage, when getting ready to leave the Island of Hawai’i, a disagreement broke out between Cook’s men and some Native Hawaiians. In the ensuing quarrel, Cook was struck on his head and stabbed to death - thus ending a remarkable life.

The program will be presented by Patricia Carr.
The Library is at 46 Church St.
