Seymour firefighters to help Santa deliver toys via firetruck

Recuperation journey: Light bulb went off!

When I woke up this morning I had a flash of what I consider culinary genius.

I remembered we had a box of disposable vinyl gloves and I said to myself, "Why not use them when I have to tussle with the turkey?"
I did and it worked! ðŸ¦ƒ
And so starts a new Thanksgiving tradition. ðŸ¦ƒ

Recuperation journey: Feeling grateful

grat·i·tude
ˈɡradəˌt(y)o͞od/
noun
  1. the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.

It's Thanksgiving Day, a day to be thankful for our many blessings.

In addition to always appreciating the love of family and friends, I am forever grateful to my kidney donor, Robin Gilmartin, and my sister-in-law, Suzanne Watson.

When I needed a kidney, Suzanne got tested and amazingly she was a match to donate a kidney to me.
It turned out she was a better match for another person, William Greenwood, so I received my kidney in May from an anonymous altruistic donor, Robin. The four of us were the start of an historic, 18-person kidney swap at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

I can never thank them - and my wonderful surgeon, nephrologists, and the health care professionals who continue to care for me - enough!
Meanwhile it's Thanksgiving morning and per usual I'm running late.
I'm only on the first step - the easiest one - in the cooking process. I'm listening to cranberries pop in the pot.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
