Little Free Pantry on Skokorat in Seymour posts wishlist



It’s been a minute since we shared a wishlist, so we figured we’d refresh everyone on what types of donations are most popular here.

Our most needed items are:
🌱 Tuna/Chicken
❤️ Canned Fruits/Vegetables
🌱 Pasta/Sauce
❤️ Cereal/Oatmeal
🌱 Chef Boyardee

We’ll also gladly accept any unexpired nonperishable donations, fresh produce, bread, and hygiene products. 

You can leave items in the pantry (this is often most helpful ), in the black donation bin near our garage, OR have items shipped to 58 Skokorat St, Seymour CT.

UPDATE: Aaron Gray has been located and is safe, Ansonia Police report

UPDATE: Gray has been located and is safe. 

The Ansonia Police Department is looking for the public’s assistance in locating Aaron Gray, a 26-year-old Ansonia resident who made statements of self-harm to members of his family. 

Gray is a black male with black hair and brown eyes, he is 5 feet 9 inches tall, and weighs 218 pounds. Last contact with his family was about 12 p.m. today [April 15] and was believed to be in the Seymour and Beacon Falls area. 

Gray may be in a 2018 Chevy Cruz color blue bearing CT license plate BU98778.

Great Hill United Methodist Church in Seymour to host flea market Saturday


SEYMOUR - Stop by Great Hill UMC from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday for our January Flea Market! 

Fellowship Hall will be filled with 20+ vendors with treasures and delights! The hall is handicap-accessible, so everyone can enjoy the event.

The church is at 225 Great Hill Road.

Seymour Conservation Commission to host New Year's Day hike



Start the New Year off with a healthy dose of the outdoors! The "Lake Loop" is a half-mile trail around Fountain Lake, on the border of Seymour and Ansonia. 
Choose between one, two, or three laps. No pressure or judgement! All participants are required to sign in. Then, you may start walking/hiking at your own pace.
Open to all ages. Bring a friend! Small groups and families are welcome. Children under 18 must have a parent or guardian present. Dogs are allowed but must be on leash at all times. Pick up and dispose of all waste.
Parking is on Birmingham Boulevard. Then walk down to the fishing platform to find the sign-in table. DO NOT park on the grass along Route 334/Great Hill Road!

Griffin Health to present annual Valley Soul concert at church in Seymour



SEYMOUR - Griffin Health invites the community to a free concert of traditional and contemporary gospel and holiday music on Dec. 9 at Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road.


The Griffin Health Annual Holiday Concert is a cherished community tradition that brings voices together from all walks of life, backgrounds, personal circumstances, and life experiences in a collaboration that builds understanding, trust, mutual respect, and beautiful music to bring joy to the holiday season.


Under the direction of recording artist and music industry veteran Angela Clemmons, the Valley Soul Gospel Choir of volunteer singers will be the main attraction for an energizing and uplifting concert of traditional and contemporary gospel and ‘gospelized’ holiday songs. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the concert starts at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will follow.


The event is sponsored by the President’s Fund at Griffin Hospital as a thank you to Griffin’s sponsors and the community, and as a celebration of Griffin’s family of employees, medical staff, volunteers, corporators, and trustees for their dedication, compassion and expertise.

The event is free and open to all. No reservations needed. Seating is general admission on a first come, first served basis.


Donations to TEAM, Inc., the Valley Community Action Agency, are appreciated at the event.

Ansonia police charge Seymour man in parking lot disturbance

ANSONIA - George Suazo, 21, of Seymour was arrested by warrant Oct. 25 for his involvement in an incident on Oct. 3, 2025 in the parking lot of the Target store. 

Suazo was involved in a disturbance and attacked one of the responding officers during the investigation, injuring the officer, Lt. Patrick Lynch said today in a release. 


Suazo was charged with assault on a police officer and breach of peace second degree. He posted a $25,000 bond and his court date is Nov. 7, 2025 at Derby Superior Court.

 

All arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Great Hill UMC in Seymour to hold annual Basket Bonanza


SEYMOUR - Join us [at Great Hill United Methodist Church] for the 2025 Basket Bonanza Saturday, Oct. 11. For the admission price of $20, patrons will receive 25 free basket tickets, a door prize ticket, and a grand prize ticket.
Over 75 special theme baskets and door prizes will be handed out. Basket themes include movie, travel, spa, handyman, entertaining, sports, kids, baby, pets, hobbies, cooking, seasonal, and many others. 
This year’s Grand Prize Basket will include a wide variety of gift cards with an estimated $1,000 value.
This year’s event will have daytime preview hours from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., as well as an evening hour from 5-6 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. 
During the preview, tickets are placed in the cup corresponding with any of the baskets; the baskets are given away starting at 6 p.m.
The drawing will be livestreamed in front of an in-person audience and results posted to the church website and on Facebook.
Basket pickup times will be Saturday from 7:30-8 p.m. and Sunday 12 to 1 p.m.
The church is at 225 Great Hill Road.
