Derby Neck Library to host science sleuthing program for kids

DERBY - Calling all super-sleuths who love science-join us on Zoom at 1 p.m. March 27 for a special presentation by the Connecticut Science Center!
A botched bubble blowing contest, some wonky security footage. Sounds like it's time to use science to solve this crime!
Help us gather evidence as we retrace the steps of the crime and discover not only who did it, but what caused the sabotage! Together, we will look for evidence of chemical reactions and identify the unique properties of newly formed products to help solve the chem-mystery!
This program is targeted to ages 8+, but all are welcome!
Registration is required for this program to receive both the required handout and the Zoom link.
If you're not already on our program mailing list, send us a message here [on Facebook] or call 203-734-1492 to be added!

Oxford Public Library to host communication strategies program today

Dementia Care: Effective Communication Strategies program at 6 p.m. today (Feb. 10)
Communication is more than just talking and listening - it's also about sending and receiving messages through attitude, tone of voice, facial expressions, and body language.

As people with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias progress in their journey and the ability to use words is lost, families need new ways to connect.

Join Rick Abbot and Maria Tomasetti from Alzheimer's Association CT Chapter in a virtual meeting to explore how communication takes place when someone has Alzheimer's and other dementias, learn to decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia, and identify strategies to help you connect and communicate in the early, middle, and late stages.
Register to be sent the link to join.
