The 'Hope for Healing' event Saturday will raise funds to go toward medical expenses for Kerri Zuber, wife of Echo Hose firefighter Matt Zuber.  She is battling several health problems, and needs to return to The Carrick Brain Center in Irving, Texas for treatment.

Church in Derby to host family movie nights

DERBY - Walt Mayhew, pastor, Walnut Hill Community Church, said today in an e-mail:

"We serve free popcorn and bottled water.
There is also a free raffle for movie-related items such as fleece blankets, stuffed animals, and dolls. Each person entering gets a ticket.

"The film is viewed on the six-foot by eight-foot screen in the sanctuary using the sanctuary sound system. It's almost like being at the movies.

"On Feb. 21 we are providing the same event, except the move is The Croods.

"Consistent with our vision of loving God and our neighbor, we thought this would be a fun, inexpensive way to provide families in the community with a great night out in the middle of the winter doldrums at no cost."
