Vendor fair in Seymour supports worthy cause

My daughter, Allegra, and I enjoyed attending a Girls Night Out vendor fair Friday night in Seymour United Methodist Church hall. 
Seymour resident Laurie Casey, a member of the church missions team, organized the fair to raise funds for the Valley Diaper Bank. 
The diaper bank is sponsored by the Seymour-based nonprofit, Connecticut Partnership for Children, Inc.

Gym in Seymour to host family fitness day fundraiser Sunday

SEYMOUR - The first ever Family, Fun, and Fitness Day fundraiser will be held at 8 a.m. July 17 at Balance, 1Klarides Village Drive. 

There will be three events including a Spin-a-thon, Zumba-thon, and a Plank Challenge to collect donations for the Connecticut Partnership for Children! 

Entry fee for each participant is $25, and all proceeds will go to support low-income children throughout CT.

The babysitting room will feature kids' arts and crafts, face painting, and more 
And they participate for free! There will be food and refreshments provided by our in house chef/personal trainer Taylor.

Cheese pairing class at Colonial Tavern in Oxford to benefit nonprofit

OXFORD - Caseus Fromagerie & Bistro of New Haven will sponsor the second cheese pairing class to benefit Connecticut Partnership for Children, Inc. April 14 at Colonial Tavern, 24 Hawley Road.

CTPFC is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to supporting low-income children throughout the state. 

The April class, entitled "Curds N' Vines" will feature five gourmet cheeses, paired with five wines, as well as local-made jam, honey, and chocolate. 

Caseus owner, Jason Sobocinski, will run the class. 
Guests will learn all about the cheese and wine, including where it comes from, how it's made, and what it pairs well with. 

Doors open at 5:45 p.m. and light dinner fare will be served until 6:30 p.m. when the class begins. After the class, dessert will be served. 

Cash bar is available before and after the class. 

This event makes a great early Mother's Day gift for that special mom in your life, or make it Ladies' Night Out. Entry is 21+ only. 

Tickets are $50 per person and all proceeds will benefit Connecticut Partnership for Children.

Beer, cheese pairing class in Oxford to benefit CT Partnership for Children

OXFORD - Black Hog Brewing Co. of Oxford and Caseus Fromagerie of New Haven will host the first ever Hogs N' Curds event Feb. 25 at Colonial Tavern, 24 Hawley Road. 

This event will benefit Connecticut Partnership for Children, Inc., a 501c3 organization located in Seymour and dedicated to supporting low-income children throughout the state.

The event will feature beer-inspired appetizers, a beer and cheese pairing class, and beer-inspired sweets from Wildflour Confections of Seymour. 
During the pairing class, guests will sample Black Hog beer and Connecticut made cheeses, as well as Winding Drive jams of Woodbury, and local honey. 
The event is focused on supporting local small businesses, while benefitting a good cause. 

Tickets are $50 per person, and include all appetizers, the class, and dessert. 
A cash bar will be available after the class, while guests mingle. 
There is limited seating available and tickets will not be sold at the door. Tickets are available online now at www.ctpfc.org or by calling CT Partnership 203-881-1804. 
The doors open at 5:45 p.m. and close promptly at 6:30 p.m. for the class. No late arrivals, please. The class is approximately 1.5 hours, dessert, music, and cash bar will immediately follow.

OXFORD - Connecticut Partnership for Children, Inc. is hosting its fifth annual family-style breakfast with the Easter Bunny March 12 at Colonial Tavern, 24 Hawley Road.

Meal includes pancakes, sausage or bacon, juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate.

Tickets for adults and children 3 and up are $7, ages 2 and under are $2.

Seymour nonprofit to launch 3rd annual diaper drive in February

SEYMOUR - Connecticut Partnership for Children, Inc., 39 New Haven Road, Suite 1, will hold its “Third Annual 28 Days of Diapers And One to LEAP ON” Initiative in February.

The annual month-long diaper need initiative is an opportunity for community members from all areas of the state to rally their friends, co-workers, business connections, sports teams, school groups, Scouts, and any other group willing to be part of this effort. 
The agency can provide marketing materials or participants can make their own.

Meghan Tarby, founder and executive director of Connecticut Partnership for Children, said in a release: 
"Our goal for 2016 is to bring in more than 5,000 diapers. At this time, we are in desperate need of sizes 4, 5, and 6. Here are some ideas of how you can get involved: Run a simple box drive in the lobby of your workplace. Invite everyone who comes to a local sports event to bring along diapers and wipes as part of the price of admission.  Go denim for diapers – employees donate diapers, wipes, or gift cards in exchange for dressing down. Throw a party and ask guests to bring diapers! 
"Participate in the Hogs’n’Curds event at Colonial Tavern on Feb. 25 (for more info, call 203-881-1804 or e-mail intern@ctpfc.org). 

"Proceeds from this event go directly to our agency," Tarby said.
"Form your team for The Diaper Dash 5K, Kids Fun Run, and Crib Crawl Team Challenge on June 11 in Seymour. Or you can simply make a donation of diapers, wipes, and/or store gift cards."
