Derby Neck Library to host Tales and Trails at Osborne Homestead Museum


DERBY - For this week's Tales and Trails, meet in front of the Osborne Homestead Museum at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The museum is at 500 Hawthorne Ave.

After reading a caterpillar transformation story, we'll be walking the gardens and looking for butterflies! There is a chance of light rain, so dress appropriately.

Tales and Trails is an all-ages program for light hiking and enjoying the outdoors. We hope to see you there!

Derby Neck Library to hold Dungeons & Dragons session Thursday


DERBY - Join us [at Derby Neck Library] for the rescheduled session of "How to DND: Character Creation" from 3-4 p.m.Thursday, July 10.

Dive into the exciting world of Dungeons & Dragons and learn how to create your unique character.

Whether you're new to the game or just need help making a character, this session is for you!

Plumb Memorial Library in Shelton to host talk on witch trials in CT


SHELTON - Join us [at Plumb Memorial Library] for a discussion on the Connecticut witch trials with historian Jason Scappaticci at  6 p.m. July 29.

There are few people who know that witch trials even took place outside of Salem. However, Connecticut led the way in the prosecution and execution of witches almost 50 years before the Salem Witch Trials began.

The Library is at 65 Wooster St.

'Turnback Tuesday' features components of upright acoustic piano


Turnback Tuesday gives you a look at one of the components in an upright acoustic piano.

This part is called a bridle strap or bridle tape. They are small fabric straps with a leather end, its function is to aid in the movement of other action parts.

Another interesting item in the Library's collection.
