Ansonia Police: High school temporarily locked down today

ANSONIA - At about 10:35 a.m. today Ansonia High School reported a male trying to get inside the school and he had a knife, Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch said in a written release.

The male left prior to officers' arrival and was located driving away from the school. The 57 year-old male was stopped and found to have a folding knife in a sheath on his belt.

Further investigation revealed the male was at the school to pick up a family member, had a medical issue, needed to use a bathroom, and was looking to go inside the school to use the bathroom.

The knife was never displayed or used in any way by the male.

The school was temporarily locked down until the matter was resolved.
