'Turnback Tuesday' features first librarian of Derby Public Library

Turnback Tuesday applauds the hard work of a very special woman, Grace A. Child, the first Head Librarian of Derby Public Library. Miss Child, here from the beginning, helped establish and create our beautiful and historic building we now enjoy.
She was hired on Jan. 3, 1901 and worked until July 1, 1910.
The Library was dedicated Dec. 27, 1902. Mr. Gager - to whom Child referred in the letter - was the first President of the Library Board.

Thanks as always to the Derby Public Library staff for sharing interesting local history each week.
