Ansonia Police post today's Memorial Day Parade route


ANSONIA - The annual City of Ansonia Memorial Day Parade is TODAY, May 31, 2026.

The parade will begin at Nolan Field on Wakelee Avenue at 2 P.M. In order to ensure all the parade participants are safe, we will be closing the parade route to vehicle traffic beginning at 1 p.m.

The parade route is Wakelee Avenue from Nolan Field to Jackson Street, left onto Jackson Street to Maple Street, right onto to Maple Street over the Maple Street bridge right onto Main Street and ending at Main Street and West Main Street.

Only vehicles involved in the parade and residents that live on Franklin Street, North Westwood, South Westwood Road and Wakelee Avenue from Franklin Street to the Seymour town line will be granted access to those areas starting at 1 p.m.

Additionally, East Main Street, between Kingston Drive and State Street, will be a no parking area to allow for temporary 2-way traffic during the parade.

We expect the road closures to last 2 to 3 hours.

Ansonia Memorial Day Parade to step off at 2 p.m. Sunday


 

Ansonia Police post 'no parking' info before Sunday's Memorial Day Parade


ANSONIA - The city will hold its annual Memorial Day Parade starting at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Police Lt. Patrick Lynch today said in a release there will be no parking on the parade route, which includes the following streets: 

Wakelee Avenue from Nolan Field to Jackson Street, Jackson Street from Wakelee Avenue to Franklin Street, Maple Street from Franklin Street to Olson Drive, and Main Street from Maple Street Bridge to West Main Street. 

Police are asking all cars to be off the above noted roads starting at 5 a.m. in order to clean the streets. 

The parade route will be closed starting at noon.

Ansonia police announce Sunday road closures for parade


ANSONIA - On Sunday, May 29 the following roads will be closed from 12-4 p.m. for the City of Ansonia’s Memorial Day Parade.

 

Wakelee Avenue from Franklin Street to Jackson Street.

 

Jackson Street from Wakelee Avenue to Franklin Street

 

Maple Street from Holbrook Place to High Street.

 

Main Street from North Main Street to West Main Street.

 

The one way section of East Main Street from Kingston Drive to the Police Department will be changed to two way traffic in order to detour traffic from Main Street.

 

The parade will start at Nolan Field and proceed south on Wakelee Avenue turning left onto Jackson Street right onto Maple Street across the Maple Street bridge right onto Main Street finishing at the intersection of Main Street and West Main Street.

 There will be no parking of any vehicles along the parade route. 

Any vehicles parked along the parade route will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Ansonia cancels Memorial Day Parade

The Ansonia Cultural Commission is confirming the following:
"It is with great disappointment that due to the current pandemic situation along general health safety issues and state restrictions, that we will have to cancel this year's Ansonia Memorial Day Parade, that was originally scheduled for Sunday, May 24.
"We are in development of an alternative virtual program in lieu of the physical parade."

Ansonia police post no parking rules for Sunday's Memorial Day Parade


From the Ansonia Police Department:


On Sunday the City of Ansonia will be having its annual Memorial Day Parade. 
The parade will start at 2 p.m. at the Nolan Field Sports Complex on Wakelee Avenue. 
The parade will travel south on Wakelee Avenue, east on Jackson Street, south on Maple Street, over the Maple Street Bridge and then south on Main Street ending at the Big Y supermarket at the corner of Main and West Main Streets. 

There will be no parking on the parade route from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. The parade route will be closed to all vehicular traffic from noon to 4 p.m.

This will affect the following streets:

Wakelee Avenue -- Franklin Street to Jackson Street
Jackson Street -- Wakelee Avenue to Franklin Street
Maple Street -- Franklin Street to Olson Drive
Main Street -- Maple Street to West Main Street.

Any cars parked along the parade route will be towed at the owner's expense.
