Derby Public Library to celebrate Read Across America Day
DERBY - Families with kids up to age 12 are welcome to visit Derby Public Library throughout the day with ongoing literacy-themed activities including a scavenger hunt and art/craft projects at the DIY Station.
No registration needed for this portion of the celebration.
The day will also feature “Sing Me a Story” presented by Nancy Hershatter at 10:30 a.m. geared for kids ages 1-6 (siblings welcomed).
Instrument play, creative movement, puppetry, and parachute fun are all part of this 45-minute, highly interactive program.
REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED; PLEASE BE SURE TO REGISTER EACH CHILD SEPARATELY.
ALSO, PARENTS/CAREGIVERS DO NOT NEED TO BE REGISTERED, ONLY THEIR CHILDREN.
Read Across America is an annual event celebrated on or near March 2, the birthday of children's author Dr. Seuss.
It is a nationwide reading celebration that was created by the National Education Association in 1997 to promote literacy and encourage a love of reading among children.

Children to get chance to read to therapy dog at Derby Neck Library
DERBY - Next Tuesday, we are so excited to welcome certified therapy dog Brian back to the Derby Neck Library.
He loves children and is a fantastic listener.
